In 2009, two economists took an iPhone 3G apart. China’s share of the phone - $6.50, or 3.6%. China was a screwdriver shop, and if Bloomberg Opinion had existed in this form back then, it would have told Beijing to give up on electronics and stick to shoes. China didn’t listen. Today Chinese phones carry 38-40% local value. India is at 18-20%, which is already far ahead of where China started. Comparing India’s component imports with its phone exports and calling the gap a deficit is plain wrong. Indians buy phones either way. Without local assembly, every one of those phones arrives fully built and the import bill gets bigger. About $18.6B of India-made iPhones were sold in India between FY22 and FY26, and the $2.1B trade gain from mounting chips on boards locally shows the same thing. Assembly always comes first. No display or battery maker builds a plant in a country where nobody assembles phones. That’s how China used Tesla and Apple as “catfish” to pull its suppliers up to world standards. The subsidies to build local electronics manufacturing are often called too expensive . But Korea, Taiwan, Japan and China all paid to build their industries, and TSMC was nearly half government money. Under India’s component scheme (ECMS), 106 projects are approved, worth ₹69,500 cr. Display, camera module and battery cell, three of the five big imported parts in a phone, now have approved Indian plants. Taking an Indian iPhone apart in 2030 and seeing how much of it is still imported will be the time for a verdict swarajyamag.com/commentary/a…

Brahmagupta used the number 150 in India in 665 CE. Centuries later, it appeared inside the astronomy tables Latin Europe relied on for 200+ years. The curious part is that the Europeans were not necessarily reading his numbers. They were using the same scale. Let us hear that story... In his Khandakhadyaka, Brahmagupta included a short sine table calculated with a reference radius of 150. Today, we write sin 90° = 1. On that historical scale, the corresponding entry was 150. Other tables used 60. The underlying mathematics was the same; the numerical scale differed. Around 820, al-Khwarizmi compiled his astronomical tables in Baghdad, drawing on the Indian astronomical tradition. Alongside his main radius 60 sine table, he used a shorter table on radius 150, the scale Brahmagupta had used. Then the trail reaches Toledo. In the 11th century, Andalusian scholars compiled the Toledan Tables. Among more than 80 tables were 2 sine tables: one calculated on radius 60, the other on 150. That 2nd table has an unexpected history. Its numerical patterns suggest that its entries were produced by multiplying values from a radius 60 table by 2.5. But why choose 150? The historical analysis identifies a possible connection through al-Khwarizmi to Brahmagupta. McCarthy and Byrne suggest that al-Zarqallu may have made the conversion, perhaps hoping to restore what he believed was al-Khwarizmi's table. An astronomer in medieval Spain, possibly reconstructing a table on a scale used centuries earlier by an Indian mathematician. The collection containing it became the most widely used astronomical tables in Latin Europe for over two centuries. More than 100 manuscript copies survive. P.S. The accompanying medieval manuscript page shows a planetary table from the collection, not the radius 150 sine table itself. Sources: Denis Roegel, LOCOMAT survey, 2021, pp. 12-17, discussing McCarthy and Byrne (2003); Folkerts, Launert and Thom, Historia Mathematica, 2016; José Chabás, Suhayl 11, 2012. Photo 2: The radius possibly traces to Brahmagupta; the numerical values were likely rescaled from a radius 60 table. via ,Denis Roegel, LOCOMAT survey, 2021, p. 17. Yellow highlights added.

First of all, learn to say Keralam and Thiruvananthapuram! The road shown in this video is the Panvel-Kanyakumari NH 66 highway, built by government under Prime Minister @narendramodi .In the video you can also see a ship moving to the Vizhinjam port- cleared, funded and dedicated to the nation by Modiji. The advanced electic double decker bus that you are seeing in the video is also a gift by Modiji under the 'smart city' initiative. Furthermore, the area in the video is near Technopark in Kazhakkoottam, which is represented by a BJP MLA. To add to that, the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation itself is ruled by the BJP. It might be really difficult for you to digest all these facts, but face the reality that the BJP is everywhere!

In 2018, I visited Rohingya bastis in Jammu An intelligence (IB) officer told me he had recorded 1,548 Rohingya families living in the region by then I asked one Rohingya, 60-year-old Sayed Hussain, how he ended up in faraway Jammu after crossing the border in West Bengal. “I boarded the first train I saw [at Kolkata station]. It was noon. The journey ended at Jammu," he said Hussain said he was among the first Rohingya to have settled in Jammu’s Bhatindi area 10 years earlier Another Rohingya, 27-year-old Mohammed Tahir, also gave the same reason Later, the IB officer laughed at this explanation. Told me, “By all accounts, they boarded the Sealdah Express that crosses Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab before reaching Jammu. It’s an arduous two-day journey. Why did they not get down at any of the stations in between?” There is a syndicate active in Kolkata that has facilitated Rohingya migration to Jammu for years. They tell the Rohingya that the only Muslim-majority state in India is their "natural home" Ironically, most settle in Hindu-majority Jammu and not Muslim-majority Kashmir. The officer showed me figures on how Rohingya are scattered over 42 sites across Jammu, meaning they are being settled all over the region, and many Army camps were now surrounded by them In 2015, Abdur Rehman al Arkani, a Jihadi killed by security forces in south Kashmir, was from Rakhine from Myanmar. He went by pseudonym “Chota Burmi” Role of several Rohingya men in helping Pakistani Jihadis trespass Jammu border had surfaced by then. They are considered experts in infiltration as they are deft in cutting the fence, know tunneling, and are skilled in camouflage. Plus, they have a victimhood narrative of being wronged by qafirs - the Buddhists of Myanmar In Jammu's Bhatinda are I visited, it was a surprise how quickly they had flourished, as if being pampered and nurtured. An entire lane of shops was called "Burmi market". Most dry fruits factories were employing Rohingya women for cracking walnuts Local Hindus told me how these infiltrators had bigger and better stocked shops than them, who had lived here for generations The officer told me how using the UNHCR cards, which have no legal status or validity in India, Rohingya have obtained Aadhaar cards, ration cards and, in some cases, even permanent resident certificate (PRC) cards, all through fraudulent means Eight years later, these Rohingya are all still there in Jammu. Apparently the govt is running an anti-encroachment drive these days asking them to clear the areas they have illegally occupied, and some of them have reportedly begun to leave But the exercise is looking more like a temporary inconvenience for the infiltrators than a serious effort to clear Jammu and India of them.

All this paperwork madness is justified in the name of arbitrary requirements for preserving national security (degrading and debasing this cause so that when it is actually genuine, nobody believes it), preventing money laundering or “round tripping” or some other rubbish. The biggest culprit here is @RBI - no economist speaks about it because they all desire Deputy Governor or Governor post. All the rot is allowed to carry on with the blessings of intellectuals.

Sharjeel Imam Is Not Asking for Rights. He Is Asking for Pakistan’s Foundations. His defenders say he only wants representation and safeguards. His own words say Muslims are a separate nation, majority rule is illegitimate, and the just order comes from God. That is the League’s case of 1946, and the Constitution was written to reject it. swarajyamag.com/politics/sha…

Being the LoP @RahulGandhi, I suggest you refrain from politicising every issue. Also, casually labelling commercial and legal matters as criminal is unacceptable. You have repeatedly decried the successes of Indian industry & our entrepreneurs. Now, are you trying to incite our business leaders to join you in spreading distrust & toxicity? For decades, your party had smothered the spirit of the Indian entrepreneurs under the stifling ‘Licence-Quota Raj’ & inflicted poverty on crores of Indians. On the other hand, our government led by PM @narendramodi values the Indian industry as job creators & drivers of economic growth. Our policies have been tailored to enable enterprise, support industry and encourage investment. Political parties, leaders, governments and institutions share an equal responsibility to support our industry, strengthen our farmers and secure the future of our youth. Therefore, it is essential to engage constructively rather than casting baseless aspersions to suit your narrow political motives. The Constitution of India ensures justice to all its citizens & our Honourable Courts are entrusted with upholding it. History is witness to the shoddy manner in which you, your party and the PMs belonging to your party have demeaned the judiciary. So Rahul ji, refrain from seeing ghosts everywhere.
Tata is being criminally destroyed, and no business leader dares say a word. How long will you stay silent? Until they own you? Indian business is not Modi and Shah's plaything. You lack courage. We don't. We will ensure justice for these crimes.

The ECI affidavit before the Supreme Court of India signed no less by all three election commissioners makes it crystal clear that the Indian Express report by Ritika Chopra claiming that there was a mutiny inside the election commission was patently false.  This is irresponsible reporting and an apology to the Election Commission of India and the individual Election Commissioners must follow immediately.  The trend of baselessly attacking democratic institutions to discredit India must be countered aggressively.  I hope also that Mr Rahul Gandhi has learnt a valuable lesson from all of this. A wise lawyer from his own party had publicly stated in an interview to @BDUTT that it is risky to abuse the jurisdiction of Court to settle scores or build political narratives.  Precisely that has happened.  Mr Gandhi, goaded by some “wise” person in his own party, willingly took the bait offered by the Express and ran to Court - now obviously the Top Court will toss his petition out since its very basis has now been proved to be a total fairytale.
A quick video explainer on the Election Commission’s affidavit in the Supreme Court: what it answers, and what it leaves out. Do give it a watch. youtube.com/watch?v=onJNpv6f…

This's going to haunt Rahul Ghandy big😂 Karnataka SIR: An Inconvenient Question for CONgress! In CONgress-ruled Karnataka, SIR exercise was implemented on ground through State Govt machinery, with EROs, AEROs & BLOs involved in verification, scrutiny & finalisation of electoral rolls. The figures tell an interesting story: - Pre-SIR Roll (16.06.2026): 5,54,32,314 - Draft Roll (24.08.2026): 4,46,35,975 - Final Roll (27.10.2026): 4,54,55,689 Net Reduction: 99,76,625 electors (nearly 18%). So, when nearly 1 Crore entries disappear from the rolls following verification by machinery drawn from a CONgress-governed State, will CONgress question the process or acknowledge the need for electoral roll revision? Before coming out with any stupid comments, Rahul Ghandy must know that none of the EROs, AEROs & BLOs have raised any doubt or complaint or suspicion over the names removed despite being under CONgress State Govt Control.

THE FAKE EXPRESS? Now it’s getting clear that @RitikaChopra__’s report on disagreements within the Election Commission seems to have been written to give Rahul Gandhi fresh ammunition against the ECI. Is IE acting as National Herald, the mouth piece of Congress? Fellow Express journalist @DaminiNath subsequently explained that disagreements among Election Commissioners were hardly unprecedented — from T. N. Seshan to Ashok Lavasa. But that was never being allowed to be a major headline. The ECI since starting maintained that its final decisions were unanimous. So the crucial question remains: When Indian express knew the working style of Election commission why they kept their EC beat reporter Damini away from this story? Why Indian express asked their mumbai based journalist Ritika, who does not cover election commission to file this story? Why Ritika created an impression of institutional breakdown? Financial transactions between congress and Indian express should be investigated The Indian Express must answer questions about its editorial scrutiny, sourcing and framing. From the fake 2012 Army troop-movement story to the sensational 2026 Election Commission dissent story — The Indian Express fake express continues. Journalism of Courage must also mean the courage to face scrutiny.

Sucheta as usual forgot to tell you that China has 1.9 lakh km expressway/highway grade roads. Including through 'green' areas. Approx 40k km of these are 6 lanes or more. Just the expressways connecting its top 5 cities exceed the total length of eways in India.
China has a large number of High Speed Trains that cover this distance in 35 minutes. Our @IASassociation biradari and politicians go on tax paid study tours but will keep expanding this polluting- car first option that takes 5 times the travel time! We are like sheep to accept it!! We will keep paying higher tolls too. No hope!!

Sabeer and Jack sold Hotmail to Microsoft for 400 millions Jack joined Microsoft and Bhatia took the money. Both bhatia and sabeer tried various other business after Hotmail, jack went on making money whereas bhatia without jack failed in all his future projects Today he is running low on cash and he is fully dependent on X payouts. To earn payouts he started posting against Modi and Adani. A Friend of Sabeer bhatia told me if Bhatia was millionare, he would not have the time to post 50 tweets in a day.. Have you seen any millionaire or billionare so free that he keeps posting 50 tweets in a day
The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced that those attacking the documentary are the real anti-nationals. By defending the powerful instead of demanding accountability, they are enabling the very system that allows the nation to be looted. Patriotism means defending the nation, not its looters.

You’re remarkably quick to invoke the First Amendment when someone is accused of directing xenophobic abuse at a man of Indian descent, yet conspicuously less vocal about the equal standing of the Americans subjected to that racism. You are simply more outraged by the prospect of someone being held accountable for racist conduct than by the racism itself.

Shameless Dalaldeep was defending Newsclick 3 days ago But now reports reveal, CCP stooge Neville Roy Singham gave instructions to journalists at Newsclick telling them to portray Arunachal as a part of China. They also recieved 86Cr₹ in funding!
I was constrained to remind my fellow anchors today of how a small news website @newsclickin was falsely targeted as ‘foreign funded’ Chinese operation and its editor Prabir Purkayasta wrongly jailed for several months. News channels fell for the falsehood and some actively pushed it. Sorry for the noisy debate but happens once in a while when one is really angry. 🙏 #DemocraticNewsroom
