(1/8) Been seeing a lot of posts on B2B lead gen lately, so wanted to add some data to the mix (and share a loss - not all rosy). Earlier this year we ran a cold outreach initiative for our firm. 2,314 cold calls. 812 pieces of direct mail. ~$12k spent all in. About 6 months of effort. New clients generated: ZERO. Humbling / disappointing, but a good learning experience nonetheless. A thread馃У

(7/8) The takeaways: cold outreach is tough - respect to all those grinding馃憡- and it鈥檚 hard to establish trust via cold call. Owners are often putting out fires, not sitting at a desk checking voicemail. The volume math only works if you can reach them in the first place, and reaching them at all was the wall we kept running into. Expensive lesson, but glad we tested it. We're now focused on deepening our relationships within industry networks we already know, educational content that builds the same credibility the mailer was supposed to, and the referral partners who already trust our work.

(8/8) And some shameless self-promotion: if you own a trades business and your accounting / finance is a mess or you're looking to understand how buyers will perceive your books, this is exactly what we do. DMs are open. Would love to hear from anyone who's cracked B2B outbound in a blue-collar niche, and would also love to hear if @patrickdichter, @kurtishanni / @CTW_SMB / @AccrualReality have solved this puzzle.

Any owners of B2B services firms on X who鈥檝e recently implemented a new PMS? We are looking to transition from Asana, leaning heavily towards @teamworkdotcom but looking for any / all feedback

2025 was quite a year filled with growth, learnings and a few pivots along the way for good measure. Extremely excited about what @TrueMargin and I are building at Fervent and what鈥檚 on the horizon for 2026. Happy New Year!
In January, my co-founder (@hardhatCFO) and I started Fervent from ZERO. 12 months later: $421k in revenue for FY-2025. Peak run-rate over $810k. 1 acquisition closed. STRAP IN: for the backstory, the pivot, and a thread on why the: "you can (and should) just do things" isn鈥檛 just a meme 馃У
