That means dozens of his research papers have been cited extensively by other scientists. Whatever your politics, that’s an impressive academic résumé, especially for someone who also chose a career in public service.

For years, my dad battled Parkinson’s disease. On Election Night, I got to tell him, “Pop, we won.”
This morning, he passed away.
A part of me believes he held on just long enough to see his son make it to Congress.
He won’t be there when I’m sworn in. But I know he’ll be standing right beside me.

idk i went so hard on being outwardly hopeful & optimistic in 2024 about our elections to 2026 it felt like i couldn’t even post in the days leading up about being excited bc it felt like ANYTHING could jinx our chances. im going back to full force millennial cringe hopeful now!

i’ve had a difficult time putting all my feelings about this into words but i feel like there’s a subset of people on the left who actively discourage people from working hard and getting ahead in life, almost like they’re trying to keep others down on their level. it’s very important to get away from people with that mindset especially when you’re young (and i say this as someone on the left)
