Pope Leo XIV departed Rome’s Fiumicino International Airport on Friday morning for his Apostolic Journey to Latin America, marking the sixth papal journey since the beginning of his pontificate.
The ITA Airways aircraft carrying the Holy Father and the journalists accompanying him took off at 7:05 a.m.
From 6 to 17 November, the Holy Father will visit Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru.
The Pope's journey will begin in Montevideo, Uruguay, where he will meet with civil and political authorities and celebrate Vespers with the local Church.
He will then travel to Argentina, visiting Buenos Aires, Córdoba, and Luján, before continuing to Peru, where he will visit Lima, Chiclayo, Cusco, and Pucallpa.
During the 12-day journey, Pope Leo is expected to visit ten cities, make approximately a dozen flights, and deliver nearly 40 addresses in Spanish. vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/…

Con 12 años, Andrea Bocelli recibió un balonazo en la cabeza jugando al fútbol y se quedó ciego del todo.
Doce años antes, a su madre le habían aconsejado no tenerlo.
Fue en 1958, en la Toscana. Edi Bocelli estaba embarazada cuando ingresó con un ataque de apendicitis, y los médicos, que la habían tratado con hielo, temieron que el bebé naciera con una discapacidad. Le recomendaron interrumpir el embarazo. Ella dijo que no, y el 22 de septiembre nació Andrea en Lajatico.
Nació con glaucoma congénito y de niño apenas veía. En casa había una granja, viñedos y mucha música, y aprendió piano, flauta y saxofón antes de perder la vista por completo.
Siguió adelante. Se licenció en Derecho en la Universidad de Pisa y por las noches cantaba y tocaba el piano en bares. En 1992 grabó una maqueta que llegó a Luciano Pavarotti, en 1994 ganó en Sanremo como artista nuevo y en 1995 grabó Con te partirò, una de las canciones más vendidas de la historia.
Años después, ya famoso, contó la historia de su madre en un vídeo como si hablara de otra familia, y la cerró con una frase: «Esa mujer era mi madre, y ese niño era yo».
A mí lo que más me emociona es que la contó sin reproches hacia nadie, solo dando las gracias.
La mujer que no quiso escuchar a los médicos acabó escuchando a su hijo en los mejores teatros del mundo.

El Papa León XIV ha sido nombrado Confrater Papal de la Capilla de San Jorge, en Windsor, mientras que el rey Carlos III ostenta el título de Confrater Real de la Basílica de San Pablo Extramuros, en Roma.
Este gesto, anunciado un año después de su histórico encuentro en el Vaticano, supone un nuevo paso en el acercamiento entre la Iglesia católica y la Iglesia anglicana, separadas desde el siglo XVI.

“Christ places love at the very center of our relationship with God. Indeed, it is not enough to know that God exists, that he is the only God, or that he is the Almighty. The Lord seeks a personal relationship with us: the one true God wants to become our God.
In our encounter with him, the commandment of love is neither an obligation nor an imposition. Indeed, one cannot love “on command.” Love for God is the very essence of human desire, which finds its fulfillment in communion with him. For this reason, our love can be authentic only when it is a response to his love, which always precedes us. From this arises the need for a total commitment that involves the whole person: heart, soul and mind.
To the first commandment, the Lord adds a second: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself”. This rule of life springs from the same source; that is why Jesus says that it is similar to the first. Thanks to our close relationship with God, we are able to look at ourselves and our neighbors through the eyes of Christ, from his perspective. In this way, selfishness is overcome and even love for oneself becomes charity: our existence turns toward the other and becomes a gift for those around us.
Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus understood this well: “Love alone,” she wrote, makes “the Church’s members act, and if Love ever became extinct, apostles would not preach the Gospel”. Indeed, without love, our faith would be deprived of its essence, our good works would be reduced to mere moralism, and our hope would be in vain.
Dear friends, we cannot truly love God unless this love overflows into love for our brothers and sisters. And we cannot truly love our neighbor except as children of the same Father who loved us first in his Son, Jesus.
Let us ask the Lord for the grace of a new heart, capable of embracing and living out the greatest of all commandments. May the Blessed Virgin Mary intercede for us, in whose Immaculate Heart there is nothing but love.”

#FDP-Co-Präsidentin Susanne Vincenz-Stauffacher rückt von ihrer Forderung an die #SVP ab, auf dem Ticket für die #Bundesratswahl am 9. Dezember müsse mindestens eine Frau sein.
Da mit der Genfer Nationalrätin @AmaudruzCeline eine einzige Frau kandidiere, wäre diese Vorgabe "zu forsch", sagt sie nun in der "Samstagsrundschau" von Radio @srfnews.
Sie bedaure es zwar, dass nicht mehr Frauen kandidiert hätten, nachdem sich bis zum gestrigen Anmeldeschluss sechs Männer und nur gerade eine Frau gemeldet haben. Die @FDP_Liberalen-Co-Präsidentin zeigt sich mit der Auswahl der @SVPch aber dennoch sehr zufrieden: "Sie hat uns jetzt ein breites Kandidierendenfeld vorgelegt".
Die Partei habe in den letzten Tagen "für Unterhaltung und Spannung gesorgt", sagt #Vincenz-Stauffacher mit Blick auf die sich häufenden Absagen. Doch in den letzten 24 Stunden vor dem Anmeldeschluss habe die Partei "uns nun ein richtiges Feuerwerk beschert". Damit sei "der erste Schritt getan", erklärt die FDP-Co-Präsidentin.
Was die Zusammensetzung des Tickets betrifft, ist für sie jetzt nur noch ein Kriterium zwingend. Vincenz-Stauffacher erwartet von der SVP "ein Ticket, das die lateinische Schweiz berücksichtigt". Und indirekt macht die FDP-Co-Präsidentin klar, dass sie auch den Tessiner Ständerat @marcochiesa74 grundsätzlich für wählbar hält: "Zwei Tessiner im Bundesrat wären überhaupt kein Problem".

Après un week-end de violences en Italie, Giorgia Meloni annonce un décret approuvé aujourd'hui par son gouvernement.
« Manifester est un droit, dévaster nos villes, non. »
Voici les mesures adoptées :
- Jusqu'à 5 ANS DE PRISON et 20 000 € d'amende pour participation violente à une manifestation en groupe d'au moins 5 personnes. Peines aggravées en cas de visage dissimulé ou de blessures.
- QUI CASSE PAIE. Si le responsable est mineur, ses parents devront répondre financièrement des dégâts. Le patrimoine familial pourra être mobilisé pour indemniser les victimes.
- RETENUE PRÉVENTIVE étendue aux mineurs.
- 500 MILITAIRES SUPPLÉMENTAIRES déployés à Milan jusqu'au 31 décembre.
Le bilan : près de 200 policiers blessés lors des violences en Italie et environ 1 MILLION D'EUROS de dégâts rien qu'à Milan.
Meloni est catégorique :
« Dévaster et voler, ce n'est pas manifester, c'est de la criminalité. »
Pendant ce temps, en France, l'hôtel de ville de Limoges a été ravagé par les flammes.
Et nous attendons toujours une réponse politique à la hauteur de la gravité de ces événements.

Der Solothurner @svp-Nationalrat Rémy #Wyssmann möchte die Nachfolge von #Bundespräsident Guy #Parmelin antreten.
"Ich bewerbe mich um diesen Sitz", erklärt der 59-jährige Rechtsanwalt und Notar an einer Medienkonferenz in Solothurn.
@RWyssmann ist erst seit drei Jahren im Nationalrat.
Er sei mit 59 Jahren "alt genug, um in Beruf und Politik geprüft worden zu sein, und jung genug für zwei volle Amtsperioden und darüber hinaus", begründet Wyssmann seine Eignung für das Amt eines Bundesrates. Er wolle sich in der Landesregierung für den Mittelstand einsetzen. Ein Amt als #Bundesrat sei kein Preis für eine zurückgelegte Laufbahn, betont Wyssmann. Es sei "ein Dienst an unserem Land und an der Bevölkerung".
Der Solothurner ist nach der Genfer Nationalrätin @AmaudruzCeline der zweite Bundesratskandidat der SVP.
Weitere Kandidaturen können der Findungskommission der SVP noch bis am Freitagmittag, 23. Oktober, um 12.00 Uhr gemeldet werden.
