💰 Climate pledges alone aren’t enough. @LopesInsights argues the exceptionally high cost of capital remains a major obstacle for developing economies. Read his essay for @WRIClimate’s Diplomacy in a Messy World series: bit.ly/4i8cLYb

Ghana has a new Country Manager for the African Development Bank. It was an honour to receive the open letters of the distinguished Halima H. Hashi. In welcoming her to Ghana on Wednesday April 15, 2026; I expressed Ghana’s great respect and deep appreciation for the impact the African Development Bank has had on our development since opening its Ghana office in 1973. I thanked the African Development Bank for supporting Government’s flagship projects including the Big Push, Feed Ghana, Eastern Corridor Road, AI initiatives and Irrigation interventions. Ghana proudly acknowledges the AfDB current investment portfolio of about US1.3billion active projects. I assured that President John Mahama will continue to offer his valuable guidance as the African Union Champion for African Financial Institutions as he remarkably pursues financial sovereignty and retention of African reserves on the continent to finance Africa’s infrastructure deficit. A warm Ghanaian welcome to our Tanzanian sister. I wish her a successful and transformative tenure.

At the African Union’s 48th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council in Addis Ababa. Delighted to see that virtually every African Foreign Minister is finding out how they can get their own FUGUs. Hope our dynamic young FUGU entrepreneurs take full advantage. That is how Economic Diplomacy works.

With the opening of the first-ever state-of-the arts National Seed Testing Laboratory in Mile 91, Sierra Leone now has the equipment and systems to certify seeds that enters our farms. This didn’t happen by chance. It took vision and deliberate engagement from H.E President @julius_maadabio with our partners. We thank especially @AfDB_Group and @iaeaorg for the technical support and resourcing this alongside Government of #SierraLeone Now we are building the capacity of the men and women who will run this lab and make sure every farmer benefits from across Mama Salone 🇸🇱
At Mile 91, I opened our state-of-the-art seed lab. We are advancing our agricultural strategy to incorporate scientific methods that increase crop yields. This seed lab will focus on researching and certifying our seeds for higher yields. We are making significant progress in transforming agriculture and making farming more profitable. Together, we will feed Salone. #FeedSalone
