The judges in Tundu Lissu’s sham trial said that Lissu’s incitement caused disruption in the 2025 election! So how can Samia Suluhu and her illegitimate govt claim to have won millions of votes? The court has acknowledged that there was NO ELECTION - no voting, no counting! FYI Tundu Lissu was in prison months before! The 2025 thingie was just an announcement of fake results! Tundu Lissu has been acquitted of treason but sentenced to four years in prison for incitement. This verdict raises serious concerns about political freedoms, the rule of law and the treatment of opposition voices in Tanzania. Political disagreement must never be met with the criminalisation of dissent. We condemn this sentencing and call for Tundu Lissu’s immediate release.
