The misconception that there is no sound in space originates because most space is a ~vacuum, providing no way for sound waves to travel. A galaxy cluster has so much gas that we've picked up actual sound. Here it's amplified, and mixed with other data, to hear a black hole!

I helped out a bit the last leg of the project, and it was inspiring to see how much hard work had already gone into designing and creating such a cool system!
pumped to say our paper "Escra: Event-driven, Sub-second Container Resource Allocation" was accepted at ICDCS 2022! Shoutout to the team for making it happen! Only took 3 years lol @nazari_maziyar @SepidehGoodarzy @hunhoffe @ThePreritOberai @erozner Eric Keller and Richard Han.

On Sat, Oct 30, 10am US/Eastern, to dispel the vast misinformation out there, I will answer questions about applying to US computer science PhD programs. Especially hoping to reach HUGs, students w/out access to research, etc. Please help spread the word! docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F…

I am very excited (and still a bit shocked!) to receive a 2021 Google PhD Fellowship in Systems and Networking. A huge thanks to my advisor @erozner for all of his support so far! research.google/outreach/phd…

Another big thanks goes to my spouse @mehunhoff for listening to many rambling "I'm very excited about this research idea" conversations (and for all the other ways he shows support)!

Enjoyed a truly FaaScinating (ha!) day watching the talks at WoSC6 today, as well as presenting my first research talk! Find more about our works & the work of others at serverlesscomputing.org/wosc… #wosc6 #serverless
Great job by my student @hunhoffe giving her first talk at the Workshop on Serverless Computing (WoSC)! She presented a technique to enable proactive serverless function resource management. Her cat, Wampus (not on twitter), made many special appearances in the slides 😸😹

Fun excuse to exercise my artistic side!
Check out this awesome logo my student @hunhoffe made for our lab, the CU Boulder Interconnected Systems and Optimized Networks (BISON) Lab. This is so cool! Thanks a million Erika!!! Our slightly-outdated webpage: ericrozner.com/bison/index.h…

When I was and undergrad and junior grad student, I regularly burned myself out on deadlines. I actually work WAY harder now. And I'm able to do it because I learned to manage my energy better. Here are some lessons I learned. Thread. 👇

Our paper proposing new hooks into serverless runtimes to allow for code to run outside a serverless function has been accepted to ACM WoSC 2020! Props to my PhD students Erika, Shazal, and @ali19tariq! Vijay isn't at CU, but is interested in attending grad school. Watch for him!

I'm inspired by all the impressive projects presented at #nsdi2020, and motivated by the valuable feedback I received on our work! A non-technical highlight was the @n2women luncheon - comforting & important to hear from women who have gone before!
I was unable to make it to #NSDI20 this year, but for those attending please stop by and talk to my student Erika about our work on optimizing network connections for serverless computing! She's at the poster session now!
