Hemerdon is processing ore again. After following the financing behind the UK tungsten restart, it is good to see the plant back at work. The focus now turns to building consistent production. Today's Daily: geopoliticalmining.com/uk-he…

2019–2023: the U.S. imported an average of 17.2 Mt of salt a year. 8–10 Mt of de-icing salt crosses into the U.S. and Canada annually from Chile, Mexico, Egypt and the Caribbean. That's a supply problem, not a demand one. $SALT.V #AtlasSalt #SupplyChain atlassalt.com/

#Copper is losing momentum, currently down 3% in NY at USD 6.67/lb after failing to sustain a break above last month’s record high. The reversal follows comments from the White House, via Reuters, that no decision has yet been made on tariffs on refined copper amid concerns they could raise costs for US manufacturers. The prospect of tariffs has been a key driver behind the surge in US copper imports and stockpiling, helping tighten supplies elsewhere.#

🇰🇿⛏️ #EST EAST STAR RESOURCES One of the more interesting junior exploration stories on the London market right now, and one I think investors should be paying much closer attention to. The attraction with East Star Resources isn’t simply “another small-cap gold explorer”. It’s the combination of: 🟡 GOLD 🟠 COPPER 🌍 KAZAKHSTAN 📍 Large-scale exploration potential ⛏️ Multiple opportunities across the portfolio 📊 A relatively small valuation 🎯 And, most importantly, the potential for drilling to materially change how the market values the company. The simple investment thesis: Small company + potentially large geological opportunity + meaningful exploration catalysts = significant potential valuation asymmetry if drilling delivers. Tungsten West is pretty much the only near-term, at scale Western tungsten supply outside of China. As a UK mine which is backed by government funding it is a unique asset in the global critical minerals market. Hannam & Partners, recently estimated the NPV of the asset at £936M but that was at $1,000/mtu and $800/mtu pricing. Tungsten is currently trading beyond $3,000/mtu! At spot prices, the implied EBITDA covers the entire £71m NWF restart capex in just 3 to 4 months - exceptional by any mining standard and makes the current valuation very cheap. Pricing has sky rocketed but the driver is structural, not cyclical. The metal has moved from an industrial commodity to a critical defence material and is used in armour-piercing ammunition, missile guidance systems, aerospace components, and semiconductors. Chinese export controls have severed the West's primary supply chain and there is no short-term substitute for the metal. As for the asset, Hemerdon is one of the largest tungsten and tin deposits in the Western world. Tungsten and tin concentrate was produced last month and production starts in the next couple of months. Full capacity next year will see the mine ramp up to nameplate capacity to 500t per hour over the course of 2027 with further expansion offering further upside. On 21st May, the company advised - "In response to recent market conditions, the Company has commenced a project to materially increase the production capacity of the operation, including significant additional capacity in the new build programme currently underway." This lever is a material additive and should see further recognition shortly. Massively, the NWF deal with the UK Government removes the primary overhang that had suppressed the share price - restart financing risk. The government also secured the right to ringfence up to 50% of Feasibility Study tungsten production, reflecting the strategic importance of the asset to UK defence and nuclear industries. From the FT, the CEO added that the company was in “advanced” talks with a refiner that would buy some of the tungsten and process it into a form that industry can use. Court declined to name the refiner but said it was not based in China. A refiner partnership clearly transforms Hemerdon's commercial proposition. GTP and H.C. Starck are the most likely candidates(?) given their pure-play refining focus and closer proximity to Hemerdon. The fact that talks are described as "advanced" suggests this could be announced imminently. All in all, very material cash upside coming with the shares very cheap here but that won't last. I will be adding to my already large holding if the shares linger here for much longer. #TUN

The National Wealth Fund has just announced a £71m investment in the mine. It's going to be back up and running within weeks. That abandoned refinery we filmed last year will soon be producing tungsten again. Big news...

Copper supply isn’t just tight — the challenge is becoming structural. Over the past 30 years, global copper mine supply increased by roughly 12 Mtpa. The problem? We may now need to add approximately the same amount in just one decade — one-third of the time. And we’re attempting this against a very different geological backdrop: • 1990–2010: ~200 large copper discoveries containing ~1,250 Mt of copper • 2010–2025: ~20 large discoveries containing just ~165 Mt • Ore grades: ~2% in 1990 versus ~0.6% today — and continuing to decline So the industry faces a double constraint: Fewer major discoveries. Lower-quality deposits. Lower grades mean more tonnes mined, more energy, more water, more processing capacity and more capital for every tonne of copper produced. At the same time, demand is accelerating from grid expansion, electrification, renewables and increasingly AI and data-centre infrastructure. This is why simply having copper resources in the ground isn’t enough. The real strategic value will increasingly be in speed to production — brownfield projects, existing infrastructure, historic mines, tailings and secondary resources capable of bringing additional metal to market faster than conventional greenfield development. Copper isn’t just another commodity. It is becoming one of the fundamental constraints on the next generation of global infrastructure. #Copper #Mining #CriticalMinerals #EnergyTransition #AI #DataCentres #Commodities #Exploration #MiningInvestment #Metals @RealRickRule @Buffalometals @ctindale @robert_ivanhoe @IvanhoeMines_ @ProspectResLtd @TaviCosta @minenergybiz @CopperBullish @wmiddelkoop @paola_rojas @YellowLabLife
