The music venue where Lil Peep died in Tucson, Ariz., is in danger of being demolished, and the rapper's mother is fighting to keep the famed location open. Ascent Property Company, a real estate investment and development company in Arizona, is developing plans for a five-story residential complex that would replace The Rock, the venue where Peep was set to do his last performance in 2017. Eight years ago, Peep accidentally overdosed and died at the age of 21 outside the spot in his tour bus before he was scheduled to go on stage. Fans have continued to visit the location and the memorial dedicated to the late artist outside The Rock. Lil Peep's mother, Liza Womack, started a Change.org petition to prevent The Rock's closure. The petition has over 13,000 signatures since its launch on Nov. 28. "The Rock, a beloved music venue in Tucson, holds a special place in not just the city's music history, but also in my heart," Womack writes in the petition. "Tragically, my son was set to play at The Rock when he passed away on his tour bus right outside in 2017. Ever since, a memorial, lovingly created and maintained by his fans, stands as a testament to his legacy, his dreams, and the impact he had on so many lives." Womack also urged Tucson's city planners and community leaders to reconsider the decision to destroy The Rock. Sign the petition here: change.org/p/save-tucson-s-h…
