What stayed with me most was the reminder of how often LGBTQ+ people are still denied basic empathy in our Indian society. It is painful to see people speak about identity as though it were an illness, instead of recognising LGBTQ+ people as human beings deserving the same dignity, safety, love, and equality as everyone else.
Having lived in countries where LGBTQ+ people are treated with equality, dignity, and respect, I deeply hope we can build the same in India too! I have seen how talented, intelligent, passionate, and capable they are!!! especially when they are given equal & fair opportunities, treated with the dignity, empathy, and respect every human being deserves💜💜
There is still resistance rooted in patriarchal thinking. But the love and open hearted appreciation #Dorothy is receiving gives me hope that we are moving in the right direction.🥹😍
