Foreign Policy / Conflicts (dominant story of the day) Ongoing U.S.-Iran tensions over the Strait of Hormuz remained the lead international story. Vice President JD Vance stated that Iran had informed the U.S. it had “no plans to toll” the waterway and that negotiations (with direct involvement from President Trump) were in the “middle of the game,” including discussions with Oman on demining and safe transit routes. Iranian officials, however, issued new demands that the strait would not fully reopen until the U.S. “corrects its behavior,” including ending the naval blockade, withdrawing forces from the region, paying reparations, lifting sanctions, and releasing frozen assets. Separate reports noted an alleged Iranian missile targeting of a UAE vessel. Fox News provided continuous live updates on the talks and related military posture. foxnews.com Government Dysfunction / Poor Leadership / Political Division / Corruption The Senate narrowly confirmed Todd Blanche (President Trump’s former personal lawyer and acting Attorney General) as Attorney General in a 50-49 overnight vote. Two Republicans (Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine) joined Democrats in opposition, citing concerns over independence, handling of Epstein-related documents, a proposed “anti-weaponization” fund, and an IRS settlement involving Trump.
