When used to describe a person or organization, a parasite is a freeloader—someone who is lazy, relies on other people's hard work, and gives nothing of value in return. Value being likes/shares/comments/reblogs/discussions/etc. Sounds like lurkers.

i think the problem comes from people who don't "contribute" yet still expect content catered toward them. like people who leave no comments or love for a fic, but the moment it doesn't update in a week they're like "um? where is the next chapter?" it's very entitled
