I'm actually quite content with being a British martial artist living and training in Japan. Haruhi was born in Japan but lived most of his life in the US. He was converted to Christianity while being in the US, and is now part of a minority religion in Japan. (I know it's a triggering fact, but marathon runners outnumber Catholics in Japan).
