There was an event so good we restarted time
I’ve asked this before but is there any historical event that is like the Opposite of 9/11. Like something so good that happened that it changed the world forever

This is the kind of structure a lot of us needed growing up. My dad didn’t just give me chores. He gave me discipline, responsibility, and a clear standard. A lot of people only realize the value of that later in life. Respect to him for being consistent with it from such a young age.”

We did it. We proved that the 515 foot boat shaped formation in the mountains of Ararat is NOT geological, but a man-made structure with organized patterns, chambers, and corridors beneath the surface. Dr Bakhtar’s scans only show that which is NOT geological. You’re looking at official scans of Noah’s Ark. We won’t stop until they re-write public education textbooks and completely eradicate evolution from curriculums. THIS is where creation began anew.

Sinclair Ferguson warns ministers against an "oppositional tone" in preaching, where the pastor preaches in an "attack mode" and is "coming down upon the people instead of bringing them up to the Lord Jesus Christ." He says there is a way in which men can even preach the great indicative truths of the Scriptures in an imperative tone because of the preacher's affections. Sinclair includes this great line that the people need to hear that "the only interest Jesus has in their sin is to get rid of it." Really convicting stuff here for preachers.

My dear Wormwood, You still think in terms of churches and arguments. That is why you fail. The churches can be left standing. What must be spoiled is the literature that taught the young to love the Enemy before they could define Him. Narnia is one of the more irritating of those books. Children meet Aslan first as adventure and only later discover they have been handling Christ. That is dangerous. Direct attack only makes the stories more precious. So we do not ban them. We adapt them. Give the Voice to a so-called celebrated actress. Leave the mane. Leave the pronouns. Then the thing that was a male Christ-supposition becomes a prestige performance. The story remains famous; the meaning becomes negotiable. In a generation the story will still be beloved, but the beloved thing will no longer be Lewis’s Lion. It will be the version that flatters the age. That is how the Enemies literature is destroyed without the vulgarity of a bonfire. Keep the title. Change the sound. When the children hear Aslan, let them hear the present century speaking through Him. Once that habit is formed, the Enemies stories survive as brands. Their doctrine does not. Do not call it persecution. Call it interpretation. The patients prefer that word, and it does our work admirably. Your affectionate uncle, SCREWTAPE
Meryl Streep will officially voice Aslan in Greta Gerwig’s ‘NARNIA: THE MAGICIAN'S NEPHEW’. 🔗 empireonline.com/movies/news…

‼️My wife wrote this. Please read ⏬ Did you know that a newborn baby really can’t regulate their nervous system on their own? Their little nervous system is still so immature. When they’re tired, uncomfortable, startled, overstimulated, or just overwhelmed, they don’t know how to calm themselves down yet. They need us to help them do that. It’s called co-regulation. It’s why a baby can be crying one minute and completely peaceful the second you pull them close. They hear your heartbeat, feel your warmth and your arms around them, recognize your voice and smell, and their little body begins to settle. They aren’t crying thinking, “I’m going to keep this up until someone picks me up.” They aren’t manipulating us. They’re communicating the only way they know how. Sometimes they stop crying almost instantly when they’re picked up because they needed something they couldn’t give themselves. Maybe that’s why these moments are so incredibly precious to me. I could stare at this sweet face forever and hold this little one against my chest, listening to those tiny breaths. There’s something so beautiful about knowing that simply being close can make his whole world feel safe. And I can’t help but think about Jesus. How often do we exhaust ourselves trying to calm our own fears, carry our own burdens, quiet our minds, and figure everything out on our own, when the truth is we were never meant to live independently of Him at all. This baby doesn’t understand nervous systems or co-regulation. He doesn’t understand why being held settles him. He just knows where he feels safe. But the beautiful thing is, his dependence on me doesn’t begin when he starts crying. He is dependent on me when he’s crying, when he’s sleeping peacefully, when he’s hungry, and when he’s perfectly content. Whether he realizes his need or not, he is completely dependent. And maybe there’s something for us to learn in that too. Our dependence on Jesus isn’t reserved for the moments when life becomes too much or when we’ve run out of answers. We are dependent on Him for everything, every moment, every breath. We don’t come to Him because we finally reached the end of what we can do ourselves. We remain close because apart from Him, we were never meant to do any of it on our own. Just like this sweet baby doesn’t have to understand what is happening inside his little body to rest in the arms holding him, we don’t have to understand everything God is doing to remain close to Him. “Remain in me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, neither can you unless you remain in me.” John 15:4

Playing Super Mario 64 for 30 minutes a day for two months physically grew the brains of the people who played it. A 2014 study in Molecular Psychiatry scanned participants before and after two months of daily play and found increases in grey matter in three regions involved in memory, planning, and fine motor control. The study was led by Simone Kuhn at the Max Planck Institute in Berlin. She gave 23 adults a Nintendo DS and told them to play Super Mario 64 for at least 30 minutes a day for two months. A control group played nothing. MRI scans taken before and after showed that the Mario group had measurable increases in grey matter in the right hippocampus, the right prefrontal cortex, and the cerebellum, and the increases were not found in the control group. The hippocampus is where the brain stores spatial maps. Super Mario 64 is a game built entirely around navigating three-dimensional space, jumping between platforms, remembering which doors lead where, and building a mental model of a world that does not exist. The brain treats a virtual world the same way it treats a real one: it maps it, stores it, and grows to accommodate it. The prefrontal cortex handles planning and strategy, which the game demands constantly. The cerebellum handles timing and coordination, which every jump requires. The brain was not just entertained. It was being trained, and the tissue responded the same way muscle responds to a weight: it got bigger. Kuhn said the results suggest that video game training could be used as a therapy for conditions where these brain regions are reduced, including post-traumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia, and age-related brain shrinkage. The prescription is a plumber in a red hat, 30 minutes a day. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2416…

For the last 9-months, my wife, Brooklyn has been pregnant with a very sick baby boy. Three or four months ago, we learned that the baby had severe hydrocephalus. Back in the old days, hydrocephalus was called, 'water on the brain' - too much brain fluid. Ultimately, we were referred to Cincinnati Children's Hospital, where we were told by several of the most highly regarded fetal specialists in the country that his condition was dire. The baby's condition was 'off the charts bad'. It was so extreme that the specialists stopped measuring and monitoring his fluid level because, at that point, it didn't really matter. The MRI's were sickening to look at. We were told, pointblank, that there was over a 90% chance that the baby would either die shortly after birth or have such severe cognitive impairments that any quality of life would be hard to imagine. We had a meeting with palliative care regarding the use of life sustaining measures and had detailed, awful, and emotional discussions about the ethics of when we might need to remove or cease such measures - which would result in the baby 'passing away peacefully'. Brooklyn relocated to Cincinnati and lived in a hotel close to the hospital - in case she went into labor. I commuted back and forth. On July 8th, Brooklyn did indeed go into labor. Literally, 15 minutes before they wheeled her back to start the C-section, we had another meeting with doctors regarding the use of a breathing tube and at what point we might need to remove that tube and let the baby go to Heaven. Guess what? The baby came out crying - which was the sweetest sound I ever heard. In a nutshell, Charlie Schnarr stayed in infant intensive care until yesterday - when we all came home. He seems to be a normal, beautiful baby doing all the things that babies do. He has mild ventricular enlargement, but we can deal with that with checkups. How did this happen?! The doctors said, 'We do not have and cannot come up with a medical explanation for what we've witnessed here'. Somehow his brain found a way to naturally clear the blockage or re-route the fluid that was causing the oppressive back up of brain fluid. During the last week, I heard the words, 'divine intervention' and 'miracle' more times than I could count. Nurses with decades of experience and esteemed, nationally admired doctors were flabbergasted but jubilant. Because of the domino effect of friends, family, clients, colleagues and even strangers praying and asking others to pray for us, I do not doubt that there were thousands of people praying for us. I'm a practical person that certainly believes in science and medical technology, but I absolutely know, from the bottom of my heart, that God was involved in this. I give ALL of the credit and glory to Him. Prayer is positively powerful. God is real, and He still performs miracles." 📷: Nick Schnarr

I heard someone say, satan got adam and eve to fix their eyes on one tree when god had already given them an entire garden, think about that. The enemy didn't have to convince them that they had nothing. He just had to make them forget everything that they already had. And he still, till this day, uses the same strategy. He gets us to focus on relationships we don't have, the job that we don't have, the opportunity we don't have, the healing we haven't seen yet. Meanwhile, we are blind to the countless prayers god has already answered. Gratitude isn't pretending you don't want more, it's refusing to let what you don't have make you forget the goodness of god that's already surrounding you.
What's the hardest lesson you've learned?

If you never want to be an inconvenience, then you’ll never have any meaningful friendship, a meaningful marriage, or any meaningful relationship with anyone. To love someone is to inconvenience them, it is to need them, it is to interrupt their plans, it is to ask for help, to need a ride at 2 in the morning to the airport, to need a store run because you must eat pickles right at this moment, all of it an annoying inconvenience. And yet all of it also a wonderful inconvenience. To be loved is to be inconvenienced, because a life where nobody bothers you, where nobody inconveniences you, is not a better happier one, it is just simply, and plainly, terribly lonely.

Beautiful images of a historic church, right? Think again. This church was built just last year in Oklahoma. Expect more of this in the years to come. The dark spell that once convinced us that tradition was our enemy is being broken.

Sleep is just fundamental. Whenever I have a big life problem, I've learned I need to first check in with my sleep. If I'm not getting 8 hours a night, I just pause all my problem solving, and get several consecutive 8+ hour nights. I tell myself I'll solve the problem after I do that. And, miraculously: the problem is always at least 90% resolved just from doing that.

Ah, I could see that happening. Unfortunately, I think we’re just really bad at caring for one another in general in American churches because so many follow the frenzied activity schedule of the world instead of evaluating all priorities for our time and attention in light of God’s Word.
