Ephesians 2:8-9: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast" (KJV)

For years, Washington's Human Rights Commission went after a small Korean spa in Lynnwood. It all started with a 2020 complaint from Haven Wilvich. The spa's crime? Keeping men with male bodies out of the women's nude area. A place where girls as young as 13 bathe. The state found them guilty of discrimination. Made them scrub "biological women" off their website. Sent them to training. Fought them all the way to the Ninth Circuit. Now the spa is at the Supreme Court. And all of a sudden, the commission blinked. In an emergency vote, no public comment, after a closed-door session, they changed the rule. Nude spaces can now go by "genital characteristics." Their words, not mine: "a narrow change to address pending litigation." Translation: they knew they'd lose. Every woman in this state already knew the answer. It took a lawsuit, a family business and years of fighting to drag Olympia to common sense. So if you have to take it to the Supreme Court just to keep men out of a women's spa, what do you think happens to your daughter's locker room and her spot on the team? Vote YES on I-638. Drop boxes close at 8 PM tonight. Not 8:01.

Thank God the clocks fell back. Now I don’t have to feel guilty about half my clocks being wrong.

Wow! Ferguson is peeved at and threatening Microsoft!
Washington State BAD BOB FERGUSON "I plan on being governor for a long time." Washington governor rips Microsoft over TV ad in leaked audio Oct. 30, 2026 Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson called out Microsoft for bankrolling a political action committee responsible for a TV ad describing state government as broken, according to newly leaked audio from a Seattle Chamber leadership conference last week. Remarks at the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce’s Regional Leadership Conference, held at the Suncadia resort near Cle Elum, Wash., are supposed to be off the record. But The Washington Observer, an independent newsletter on state politics, published the audio Friday, saying it was obtained from an unnamed source. In the audio, Ferguson zeroed in on a line near the start of the ad — that in Washington, “it used to be all you needed was an idea, a dream and the guts to chase it.” The governor repeated the words “it used to be” for emphasis, in a tone of disbelief. “What’s up with that?” Ferguson asked the crowd of business and government leaders. “First, does anyone else in this room believe that? I sure as hell don’t.” “I talk to people every day who have that idea, that dream. They’re chasing it and they’re getting it,” he said. He cited the record $3.5 billion that Seattle-area startups raised in the third quarter, more than triple the same period a year ago, according to PitchBook data. The Microsoft relationship: Ferguson, who noted that he had worked as a lawyer for Microsoft, said he loves the company and respects what it does. But he seemed especially peeved that the ad ran during the Seattle Seahawks game, where it reached people across the state and those from elsewhere who might want to come here and start a company. “If we’re partners, partners should treat partners like partners, right?” he said. He asked the room to imagine him running a multimillion-dollar ad criticizing Microsoft. “You guys would think I lost my mind if I did that,” he said. Ferguson called Microsoft a key partner and a member of his economic roundtable, and said he works well with the company. “But it works both ways,” he said. Ferguson acknowledged that the state has problems. “Are there challenges? Sure,” he said. But he said he didn’t think the ad was “helpful for where we all want to go.” He told the crowd he welcomes constructive feedback, but asked business leaders to think about how they communicate, and to talk up the state’s workforce, economy and startup funding along with its challenges. “What we have here is so bloody special,” he said. Ferguson, who took office in January 2025, also reminded the room that he isn’t going anywhere. “I plan on being governor for a long time,” he said, adding that he works with all of them, “Microsoft included.” The Observer noted that $10 million, roughly what the group has left to spend, would be a good start on a campaign to run someone else for governor in 2028. The newsletter said it released just the audio from a video of Ferguson’s remarks, to protect its source. Among those in the audience was Michael Mattmiller, who represents Microsoft in Olympia. He and Ferguson “kinda-sorta hugged it out afterward,” the Observer reported. Mattmiller declined to comment to the Observer, and Ferguson’s office didn’t respond to the publication. GeekWire has contacted Microsoft and the governor’s office for comment. Who’s behind the ad: The campaign comes from Washington Needs to Compete, a PAC funded in large part by Microsoft and its current and former executives. The group has raised about $13.8 million, according to state campaign finance records, including more than $5 million directly from Microsoft. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and former CEO Steve Ballmer each gave $250,000, and Vice Chair and President Brad Smith gave more than $500,000. Other backers include T-Mobile, F5, Alaska Airlines and Weyerhaeuser. READ MORE: geekwire.com/2026/washington… @engele

NEW: Brandi Kruse unfairly manhandled by rent-a-cop after standing for women’s rights during tonight’s Portland Thorns game. Straight up hostile environment. Do not take your kids to this stadium. @ThornsFC
In 2026, this is how women are treated for peacefully standing up for their rights. There was no way I was going to leave that stadium of my own free will. We did nothing wrong.

I mean…I live in SE Idaho and I have to drive 30 minutes to go to an Albertsons.
The United States of America has collapsed. Rival grocery store chains have taken over. Who are you pledging your allegiance to?

It gave me nightmares, so not really what I’m looking for when I see a movie. I hate horror films. I don’t understand why people like to watch them.
The Exorcist is by far the greatest horror movie of all time.

If you’re living in an RV, how are you unsheltered?
Seattle City Council votes today on the Vehicle Resident Assistance Program. One out of every four people living unsheltered in the region is in a vehicle. Councilmember Dan Strauss’s package puts $5 million in existing funds toward safe lots, outreach, and a new shelter-storage program so people can keep their RVs when they go inside. It also creates a permit. If you’re engaged in services and follow the rules, you can keep parking on the street while you wait for housing. Everyone else gets two hours. Starting April 2027, no overnight parking for unpermitted motorhomes between midnight and 6 a.m. Violators can be impounded without prior notice. They’ll tell you it’s a path to housing. We’ll see if anyone actually leaves the streets. Do you think this will change anything?

As I once wrote, “You can never make enough laws to guarantee good behavior from people who are willing to break the law.”
Exactly. Laws are not intended for people who follow the law anyway. They are made so people who break the law can be held accountable and those laws are already in place. What gun confiscation folks are trying to do is criminalize ownership by people who don’t already break the law and that should be raising every red flag in the world in a free society.

Everett, Washington schools made Christian kids seal their Bibles in envelopes so nobody else would be "exposed." Exposed. To a Bible. In America. Now they're apologizing and paying $275K, with your tax dollars, because they got caught. That's not neutrality. That's a message. Your kids don't leave their faith at the school door. Neither do I. You pick the school board too. Remember that on your ballot.

I would not include any of these in even my top 25.
What is the best TV series you’ve ever seen? And you can’t list Mad Men, Seinfeld, The Wire, Breaking Bad, GoT, sopranos, or The Office.

There’s been a lot of conversation about what people wear to the gym this week. None of it squares with my experience. It’s not the young people who take selfies in between sets and reps who keep me going back. I find myself inspired by the woman recovering from a stroke who slowly but steadily walks the track. I look for the guy in the wheelchair who yes plays a mean game of pickle ball. I enjoy chatting with the gentleman who needs help getting on and off the cycle and the old gal who walks in the pool because it’s easier on her joints. I’m also inspired by the 80 year old woman who could smoke any body on the stair stepper. You can look for people to mock at the gym or you can look for those who inspire you.

The Biden Administration got banks to debank Americans they didn't like. Sounds exactly like the kind of thing Democrats did to black Republicans. Same racists, new target.

A supporter of Washington's new income tax said that without it, "people will die" These people said nothing when the legislature gave a $3 billion pay raise to state employees while cutting Medicaid and support for children and families to pay for the raises. #waleg

Following the fires in Central and Eastern Washington, I'm urging the Washington State Building Code Council to allow homeowners the option to rebuild their home to an earlier version of the energy code. This will make it more affordable for individuals to rebuild their homes.
