I so appreciate my therapist catching the bs my mind is telling me:
me: "oh I'm feeling the expansion. I feel like it's ego death."
therapist: "before defining the experience, let's notice what is happening in your body."
me: "hmm I feel contraction in my back."
It's so cool that my sadness from moving to a new city faded after a week or so, after I fully allowed myself to feel it. I was even grieving my emotions that I held back ten years ago.
It was not easy, and there were moments I felt I was stuck in a storm forever. But I had enough data points that emotions will wash through me if I don't resist. I found more presence and self-love after each cry.
I suspect my consistent gratitude practice each weekday in @artofaccomp community also smoothes out the process. So grateful for the work @FU_joehudson
The morning rain in San Francisco struck me,
It made me feel warm and cozy,
Strangely, more so than the sun,
That has shone for the past week since I moved here.
It just occurred to me that it reminded me of Seattle,
how much I miss that place
and how grateful I am for it.
I was reviewing my journals and just realized many of my days have been like these since I allowed myself to feel
people want to believe a well-regulated nervous system is one that is always calm, cool, and collected
but a well-regulated nervous system is outraged in unjust circumstances, depressed in hopeless circumstances, joyful in buoyant circumstances, fearful in dangerous circumstances, and open and accepting that all these circumstances change and evolve over time.
a well-regulated nervous system attunes to the particulars of the situation at hand, and is able to perceive those particulars with relative clarity.
a nervous system that never experiences unpleasantness isn’t transcended— it’s delusional
i trust that as i keep chasing and finding enjoyment, i will end up with a life i enjoy more and more
oh wow! I remember reading Why Buddhism Is True a few years ago and felt hopeful and certain, but later learned from Popper that science seeks neither certainty nor hope
been enjoying David Chapman's Vividness
Just finished "Good Work" by @p_millerd ! It beautifully captures the subtle feelings on the pathless path, making me feel seen and less alone. The book resonated deeply - highly recommend!
The chapter "See Your Work As It Is" really got me thinking. I used to think I needed to find problems to solve (thanks Popper!). Now I realize I was caught up in finding problems to show others - playing the outer game.

Doing good science is 90% finding a science buddy to constantly talk to about the project.

reminder to self:
Pain x resistance = suffering
Pain x non-interference = purification
Positive emotions show up the same way too
Instead of “Wow I’m really excited for lunch,” my mind went “What should I eat? Do I go out or cook myself? What do I cook…”
Noticing this made me realize I actually don’t care what to eat!

Wow, the difference i noticed myself after master class (compared to just after connection course) is that I’m more enjoying and curious about the process of self-discovery, rather than feeling i’ve discovered some magical thing that can fix myself and others

The thing you are looking for is like fruit. Focus on having healthy tress and the fruit is never ending. Otherwise you are picking half rotten fruit from the ground.
The tree in this case is a life dedicated to self discovery. The fruit in this case can be poisonous if doesn’t come right from the tree.
My techniques are like knives. The intent of the user makes all the difference. It’s important they are used with unconditional love for self and other. That intent only comes from a life dedicated to knowing yourself.
