I love talking about the swing as much as anybody, but at some point you have to hit.
Understanding situations, recognizing tendencies, and knowing where your leverage is matters.
The swing is the tool. Knowing how and when to use it is what allows you to hit at a high level.

COACHES: In recent years, more and more MLB, MiLB and college hitters have asked me for this one specific thing to get them locked back in...
Arm BP.
Some organizations do so much machine work that hitters lose their timing and rhythm against a live arm.
Sometimes, the answer isn’t more machine.
It’s simply seeing the ball from a live arm again.
A simple BP session has helped so many hitters get their timing back, regain their confidence and get locked back in.

Many hitters' best moves show up between age 12 and 16.
Then come the reps of:
• Foot down early
• Just put it in play
• Be quiet up there
• Lift heavy, swing hard
Thousands of those, and the good stuff gets trained out of them.
Nowadays, when I start with a new hitter, I ask for old video too. 12u, 13u, whatever they've got.
A lot of times the move we're trying to build is already on tape when they were young.
Go test out my theory, you'll be surprised.

Great hitters don’t wake up looking for a new swing.
They wake up looking to get one thing a little better.
Small improvements.
Every day.
That’s how careers are built.

Ridge Coats had his junior season cut short due to a knee injury. Well... Let's just say he made up for lost time his senior year:

Kids are increasingly less competitive, despite “competing” all the time.
It’s because true competion has lost its zeal.
Why care about losing this “World” Series when we have 7 more on the calendar this summer alone?
The system is crushing true development in so many ways.
