The Gulu President’s retreat was a beautiful reminder of why we serve through Rotary. I returned to @RCNgora energised, encouraged and grateful for the shared experiences and renewed commitment to #CreateLastingImpact Gang Wa the @102DISCON venue was enchanting #RotaryKonyo
1/2 During our Presidents retreat in Gulu, I felt deeply grateful. I know the weight of leadership, and I know that behind every President who keeps showing up is a human being who gets tired, faces disappointments and sometimes wonders how much more they can give. Yet, in Gulu, my Presidents re affirmed the promise they made to me “Governor, you will never walk alone.” Those words mean a great deal to me. To each of you, thank you for your commitment, your courage and your willingness to keep serving, even when the journey gets difficult. You were chosen because people believed in you. When setbacks come, remember that they are not failure. Leadership is finding the courage to rise again, together.

Imagine a mother watching her child’s first steps become their last, knowing a vaccine could have prevented it. No Ugandan family should ever face that heartbreak. This #WorldPolioDay, from Kampala to our most remote villages, vaccinate every child and urge others to do the same. Rotarians and Rotaractors, mobilise, advocate and help protect every child. Indeed, some families are sleeping better as a result of the initiative - we would want more families reached so under this malaria prevention efforts #RotaryEyamba #RotaryKonyo #RotaryLegacy
𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 For 𝟭𝟱𝟬 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 in Odwarat Parish, Ngora district the fight against malaria is moving beyond the health centre and into their own homes. The @RCNgora in Partnership with Malaria Partners Uganda (@MPUganda) are taking malaria prevention directly to households through Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) in Kopege, Agu and Kees villages to help protect families from mosquitoes that transmit malaria. Malaria remains one of Uganda's most pressing public health challenges, with more than 12 million confirmed cases reported annually nationwide. In malaria endemic districts like Ngora, families continue to face a significant risk of infection, making prevention efforts at household level critical. So far, 150 of the 200 project targeted households have been reached. Beyond the homes, the club has donated 𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘁. 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 to support timely testing and treatment of malaria cases. The project is also looking beyond the immediate intervention. The club has distributed and 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟬 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘀 in the community with plans to support the planting of 1,000 trees. Neem trees have natural insect-repellent and insecticidal properties, making the tree-planting effort part of a broader environmental approach to mosquito control, alongside proven measures such as IRS and sleeping under treated mosquito nets. For Club President @janeaik the project's early success is proof that community led action works, calling for more partners to come on board to scale up the initiative to reach more households, strengthen malaria prevention efforts and improve the health and wellbeing of families in Ngora district. #RotaryEyamba | #RotaryKonyo | #RotaractLegacy

This has caught my attention. Let me check it out
BORAlearn Is Now Online. And This Is Only the Beginning. Today is one of those Fridays when I'm simply excited. 😄 The team at @lwegatech has finally brought #BORAlearn out from behind the curtains and onto the internet. boralearn.cloud We now have something people can actually visit, use, question, challenge and hopefully help us make better. And as I always say - Sometimes you simply have to make a move. Today, we've made ours. BORAlearn is another product we're growing within the #BORAsuite ecosystem, focused on learning and practice for students, while eventually bringing parents, teachers and schools closer to that learning journey. Our thinking behind it is quite simple. We don't want a learner to only know the WHAT. We want to gradually encourage them to explore: WHY? WHEN? WHERE? HOW? Because learning becomes more interesting when the answer creates another question. For parents, our bigger vision is also to make learning progress easier to understand. Not simply: “Your child scored 62%.” But eventually: Where are they doing well? Where are they struggling? Which subjects or topics need more attention? And how can the parent and teacher use that information to help the learner improve? Now let me be very clear about something. 😂 Everything I've described above isn't fully inside BORAlearn today. Some of it is. Some of it we're building. Some of it will probably change completely once real users start telling us what they actually need. And I'm perfectly comfortable with that. Because today isn't about saying: “We have finished BORAlearn.” It's about saying: “BORAlearn has started its journey.” We have started with what we have. Now we learn. We listen. We improve. We build. And hopefully, over time, we grow it into something genuinely valuable to the learning community. So today's #FridayBuildsWithLJB excitement is simply this: We are online. 🚀 Have a look at BORAlearn, play around with it and, as always, I count on your feedback to help us make it better. Explore BORAlearn Happy Friday, friends. #FridayBuildsWithLJB #BORAlearn #BORAsuite #EdTech #EducationTechnology #SaaS #AfricanTech #LWEGATECH

New recalibrated rates in the Long-term Treasury Bonds. The results of yesterday's auction have been released, revealing the coupon rate for the newly issued 15-year Treasury Bond, maturing in 2039, which has yielded a modest 15.8%. This represents a significant decrease of nearly 70 basis points from the previous 15-year bond auction in May 2024, which had a yield of approximately 16.5% in the primary market. A notable aspect of this year's auction is that the Ugandan government rejected a substantial number of bids across all tenors from the 2-year bonds, 5-year bonds and the long term 15-year treasury Bonds. Despite an offering from the market of over UGX 1.8 trillion, only 750 billion was accepted by the treasury department (with an average Bid to cover ratio of 2.4), which likely contributed to the marked decline in the interest rate for the 15-year Treasury Bond and the other medium-term bonds. The issuance of the 15.8% coupon bonds, which also carry a yield of 15.8%, marks the first instance in nearly five months that the interest rate offered on long term bonds has dipped below 16% (Last in January 2024 when the then 10 year treasury bond resulted in a 15.5% yield). This suggests a strategic direction by the government to ensure that interest rates remain within manageable levels. Despite aiming to raise close to UGX 1 trillion, the government only accepted bids amounting to 70% of the total called amount. In the case of the 15-year Treasury Bond, there were offers totaling around UGX 940 billion, yet the call for bids was a just UGX 430 billion. The Treasury Department ultimately accepted only UGX 270 billion, which is less than one-third of what the market offered. This could be interpreted as an indication of significant crowding out at the outset, particularly from competitive bidders. If the government's request was for 430 billion and the competitive bids exceeded UGX 940 billion, with only UGX 270 Billion accepted, it was a clear signal from the Treasury that they intended to maintain lower interest rates. Happy Investing Everyone Alex Kakande
