#BreakingNews Residents of besieged Oleshky who want to evacuate to Ukrainian-held territory will first be taken to Crimea or Russia, people familiar with the talks told the FT. If confirmed, it's the scenario Kyiv warned of on Sunday: Russia steering evacuees its way and keeping them. A reminder: this truce was brokered by @FLOTUS Melania Trump. This White House has a habit of prioritizing PR wins over the fine print.

I have read dozens of outraged posts because the US special envoy Witkoff called Putin a "humanist." But no one is writing about the fact that the American negotiators are simply not doing their job. Let me explain. Peace negotiations are important in their own right. Even if they do not lead to a lasting peace, the process itself is an opportunity to resolve urgent humanitarian issues. If, of course, the human dimension is a priority for the negotiators. But it is entirely obvious that neither Witkoff nor Kushner cares about people's fates in this war. The Pope calls on Putin to save thousands of people from starvation in occupied Oleshky and the surrounding villages. The UN speaks about a humanitarian catastrophe and asks Russia to allow the evacuation of the civilian population. European Parliament Vice-President Pina Picierno goes on a hunger strike to draw attention to this tragedy unfolding before the eyes of the whole world. And what are Witkoff and Kushner doing? That's right, almost nothing. Except for passing along greetings from Putin’s aide to the First Lady. Thousands of people are already eating grass to survive and begging to save their lives. The Ukrainian side raises the issue of Oleshky at every meeting. And I can name dozens of such urgent humanitarian issues off the top of my head where American negotiators must be proactive. Trump’s peace negotiations have already gone down in history as the deadliest years for Ukraine’s civilian population since the start of the full-scale invasion. I don’t know if anyone will remember the names of Witkoff and Kushner. But history will certainly record how American negotiators, who had the opportunity to save a huge number of people, refused to raise uncomfortable questions before "humanist Putin."

“Russia, frankly, has been fine on Ukraine. They haven’t been doing much,” US President Donald Trump said. Just a couple of hours ago Russia killed one-year-old Angelina in her stroller in a park in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region. Her mother later died in hospital. An 11-year-old girl was also killed.

BREAKING: Volodymyr Zelenskyy tells @piersmorgan he has been betrayed by Trump, that Elon Musk and the US deliberately cut off Starlink and people are being killed as a result “This is not the right side of history,” he says. “It is a pity that we are losing a strong partner” On Musk and Starlink he says: “This decision will bring a lot of human losses. Of course, people will die” “I am sure they knew what they did, absolutely. Because it was 1am at night, Starlink was blocked by SpaceX and the United States” “It’s not just about attack. It’s also about defending life. So people were killed because, not enough destroying, not enough interceptors, including interceptors with Starlink, which didn't work. Of course.” Asked if he’s angry with Musk, Zelenskyy says: “Yes, I think he is not right. It's a big mistake.”

More from my @FT interview with President Zelenskyy and on the intelligence intercepted by Kyiv about Russia's winter attack plans. It's deeply disturbing. Attacks concentrated on Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa and Lviv. The goal: isolate them, destroy morale, sow chaos, spark a new flood of refugees into the EU. Also: Russia wants to sever Ukraine's nuclear facilities from the energy grid. ft.com/content/c2ad4cd1-a08a…

According to our intelligence, Russia is preparing to stage dozens of videos in occupied Oleshky, forcing local residents to say on camera that they are happy, well-fed, and grateful to the Russian occupiers. Russian cynicism knows no limits. First, they occupy a town, cut off civilians' escape routes, and block humanitarian aid. Then they force local residents to act in staged propaganda videos. This is the latest step in a weeks-long, disgusting Russian propaganda campaign that denies any problems in Oleshky and claims there is no humanitarian catastrophe there. We urge the international community and all relevant international organizations to increase pressure on Moscow and demand that the Russian occupiers immediately end the siege of Oleshky. On our part, Ukraine’s Defense Forces are making every effort to help people, such as the recent delivery of humanitarian aid by heavy drones. Every day counts in saving people who are starving and dying there. We urge our international partners to act now and demand immediate humanitarian access to end this disaster. @GeneralStaffUA @StratCom_AFU @DefenceU
