EduBeam 1.3.1 is live 🇺🇸📐
• US customary units: kip, ft, in throughout, switch anytime in Settings
• AISC sections and ASTM materials in the libraries
• Pick your units and axes (z-down or y-up) on the welcome screen
Free, in your browser: run.edubeam.app

edubeam 1.3.0 is in beta 🧪
• Mechanism detection: see which supports or hinges let a structure move
• Pick supports by symbol
• Optional x–y coordinate system
• Turkish translation 🇹🇷
Try it and tell us what you think: dev.edubeam.app

I've spent 10 years in structural software: licence dongles, one machine with the right version, solve queues.
So I built Elementarium: a full finite element package that runs in a browser tab and solves on your own CPU.
Public beta is open. 🧵

GeoLibre v3.0.0 is here!
GeoLibre is a free and open-source, lightweight, cloud-native GIS platform for visualizing, exploring, and analyzing geospatial data. It runs everywhere you do, in the web browser, on the desktop, on mobile, and inside Jupyter notebooks, all while keeping your data local and private.
This release landed 95 pull requests from 11 contributors, and 5 people made their first contribution to GeoLibre. Thank you to everyone who filed an issue, reviewed a change, or sent a patch.
Our first major release makes the Cesium 3D globe a full rendering engine for the whole workspace, brings time-dynamic CZML scenes and native KML to the globe, and lets you save your edits straight back to ArcGIS Feature Services.
What's new in v3.0.0
- Cesium as your main map: switch the entire workspace between MapLibre 2D and Cesium 3D from the View menu, and the choice is saved with your project.
- Nearly every layer on the globe: COGs, PMTiles, MBTiles, vector tiles, ArcGIS services, I3S scene layers, LiDAR point clouds, and Gaussian splats all render in 3D, with extruded polygons and true elevation for 3D vectors.
- Dynamic 3D scenes: load CZML for orbits, trajectories, and moving objects that play along the globe clock, open KML and KMZ with their original styling, and add Cesium Ion assets such as OSM Buildings by id.
- Your tools work in 3D too: screenshots, print layouts, video and camera tours, the Elevation Profile, and the Sun, Atmosphere, Flight Simulator, and weather plugins.
- ArcGIS write-back: edit a Feature Service layer in GeoLibre and save additions, changes, and deletions back to the service.
- Editable SVG print layouts: export a layout and fine-tune the title, legend, and scale bar in Inkscape or Illustrator.
- Smarter rasters and new data sources: viewport-based raster stretch, persistent layer filters from Select by Expression, a Portolan catalog browser, OGC CSW catalog search, and a USGS NLDI panel for tracing river networks.

What if you had 3D FEM + slabs + EC design checks in the browser?

EU AI Act požaduje označování AI obsahu. Hujeři v Anthropicu začali watermarkovat Claude-generated output. A hned globálně.
Co to znamená?
Napíšete 1 000 slov. Claude vám udělá proofreading, opraví tři čárky a jednu kostrbatou větu. A celý text je rázem označený jako Claude output.
EU inovační cyklus: „dobro“ → regulace → compliance → absurdita.
I got tired of structural analysis software being harder to use than the actual engineering—installers, licence servers, floating seats, outdated UIs and feature modules everywhere. So I wrote Elementarium, a browser-based FEM package using WebAssembly. elementarium.app

Když EU vytáhne kartu „ochrany dětí“, je čas zkontrolovat peněženku, telefon a občanku.
Blíží se průser.
Teď bojují proti VPN.
Neútočí jen na soukromí nás všech. Útočí i na základní bezpečnost internetu. Bez VPN jsou veřejné Wi-Fi výrazně nebezpečnější. A hádejte, kdo je používá nejvíc?
Děti.
Geniální.

.@nodejs has always been about I/O. Streams, buffers, sockets, files. But there's a gap that has bugged me for years: you can't virtualize the filesystem.
You can't import a module that only exists in memory. You can't bundle assets into a Single Executable without patching half the standard library.
That changes now 👇

💬| „Bílé světlo instalují sami energetici, nemají do toho co mluvit, nikdo jim to nedoporučil. Odborníci se na to už nemohou dívat, magistrát nás musí vyslyšet,“ dodává.

🚨 RIP CRYPTO PRIVACY IN EUROPE 🚨
As of Jan 1st, DAC8 is officially live across the EU, and it’s a total game-changer. If you live in a member state, the days of flying under the radar with your bags are officially over.
Here’s the deal:
1) Snitching is Mandatory: Every exchange is now legally required to send your name, tax ID, and every single trade you make straight to the government.
2) Nowhere to Hide: They’re tracking crypto-to-fiat, crypto-to-crypto, and even those transfers to your "private" Ledger or Trezor. They see it all.
3) KYC or GTFO: If you don't hand over your Tax ID, exchanges have to freeze your account and lock your funds immediately!
4) Global Crackdown: Even exchanges outside the EU have to play ball or get blacklisted from the European market.
Basically, tax authorities just got a high-tech dashboard to track your entire net worth in real-time. Data collection for 2026 is already running.
If you aren't thinking about privacy yet, you’re already behind. This is the new reality. 📉🇪🇺

The Communist EU in action again!
Slovakia, of course, supports this dystopian proposal. Austria, the Netherlands, and Poland are against it. The Czech Republic has not yet made a decision.
Chat Control: The EU orders all private chats to be scanned starting from October 2025.
Under Denmark’s 🇩🇰 EU Presidency, a revived proposal mandates client-side scanning of WhatsApp, Signal, and Telegram — even before encryption is applied. Backed by ~19 countries, including 🇫🇷 France and 🇧🇪 Belgium, it targets adoption by Oct 14.
Critics warn:
• Breaks true end‑to‑end encryption
• Enables mass surveillance of ALL messages
• AI detection misfires on innocent content
• Threatens digital privacy, dissent, and minors’ rights
Privacy regulators (EDPS, EDPB, EU Council legal service) issue strong warnings. The ProtectEU law (tabled this summer) pushes even further: decryption access by 2030.
What’s your take? 🗣️

Translucent UI is usually a bad idea outside of movies and non-critical game interfaces.
The early moments of joy are fleeting, while the usability issues remain. Windows and Mac have both been down this road before, but I guess a new generation of designers needs to learn the lessons anew. Sigh.
