New paper with @danmeuse for SHVS on how states might think about health policy in light of the American Rescue Plan’s broad-based premium tax credit expansion, which is effective in 2021 and 2022.

There's a clear error in the @turbotax @TeamTurboTax Q&A on HSAs and HDHPs. Many complaints on the support page going back years. Still broken. In short, it says you have a gap in HDHP coverage when you don't. Can bypass by answering incorrectly. But not sure why TT doesn't fix.

Important story from @NancyCordes on IRS layoffs. A few additions: Last year IRS sent over 120 million refunds. There is a major risk Americans’ refunds could be late or wrong when you indiscriminately fire thousands of employees in the middle of the filing season. 1/5

The cuts to the IRS come at the height of tax season. CBS News’ @NancyCordes explains how they can impact taxpayers.
Hey @LGUS @LGUSSupport, we called you last Thursday bc our 4-year-old fridge died. You said it's under warranty 🥳. But you can't send someone to fix it til next Monday 😳. 11 days is a long time to cool the old-fashioned way. Can you help?
Good advice⬇️. And there's a 2nd rule to be aware of: being eligible for COBRA never blocks former employees from getting Obamacare financial assistance. So if you lose a job, go to the Marketplace first and check your options.
To: Tech workers getting laid off. I'm sorry.
COBRA may be a good option for health insurance.
But, it's worth looking at Obamacare, too. It may be less expensive, especially if you're younger.
And, it's not always easy to switch from COBRA later.

This could also be a great gig for my friends in #HealthTwitter. OTA also does some of the most consequential health policy modeling, like for 1332 waivers. And they have data that no one else does, like 1095s and 1040-reported income.

Tick tock...if Congress delays much longer on ACA premium tax credits, the benefits of enacting an extension will largely be lost. @jasonlevitis and I in @Health_Affairs. healthaffairs.org/do/10.1377… @GtownCHIR @urbaninstitute

Congress needs to act now to extend the American Rescue Plan’s health insurance subsidies or many consumers will see unaffordable premium increases and drop coverage. More from @SabrinaCorlette and @jasonlevitis in @Health_Affairs healthaffairs.org/do/10.1377…

Meanwhile, the clock on getting this done is VERY much ticking, as @SabrinaCorlette & @jasonlevitis wrote about in @Health_Affairs yesterday. Every day #ARP subsidies AREN'T extended means more confusion & more people losing coverage/seeing rate hikes: 14/

To avoid significant marketplace premium increases and coverage losses, Congress must act to extend ARPA’s premium tax credit subsidies by August. Read more from @SabrinaCorlette and @jasonlevitis for @Health_Affairs: healthaffairs.org/do/10.1377…

The E&C committee is holding an oversight hearing on Medicare Advantage today. This is great to see.
MA serves nearly 50% of beneficiaries and is growing rapidly. Oversight and reforms are needed to ensure plans are providing value to beneficiaries and to taxpayers. Here's why:
Grateful and impressed by the hard work and vision of @GovofCO @DORAColorado @C4HCO @HHSGov and @USTreasury to get this across the finish line. A model for the nation in bending the cost curve and deploying the savings to expand coverage. Cc: @HeatherHHoward @danmeuse
Today, @HHSGov approved Colorado's 1332 State Innovation Waiver. This allows CO to create the Colorado Option, a state-specific health plan that will lower premiums and ensure greater access to health care for nearly 10k Coloradans starting in 2023. cms.gov/newsroom/press-relea…

By providing one rule for employees & a separate rule adapting it for dependents, Congress indicated it had something more complex in mind.
