Also confidence and 'safety' as I've found.
At a '23 conference talk, I overheard some participants suggesting that I'm imagining rural racism as country folk are so friendly: "They" just need to just get their boots on and get out. It's not hard".
One 'small' example in many.

It'd be a mistake to obsess about the number - it doesn't matter if it's exactly £28bn - but it'd be a calamity to drop the ambition.
Major investment in nature & #netzero is vital for planet & prosperity. Hope @Keir_Starmer sets out clear plans today.

Lots of caveats, but this is a very big deal. The European Commission is proposing a 90 per cent cut in carbon emissions by 2040. Meanwhile, Lee Anderson is arguing coal is sustainable. businessgreen.com/news/41710…

Thanks to everyone retweeting and responding to this - it's incredibly useful and inspiring to know how and where these ideas are being taught in universities around the world. Please keep RTing and sharing! Many thx.
Profs and students! If you have ever taught, or been taught, Doughnut Economics as a core text as part of a university course, we'd love to hear about it - drop me a message here, thx! @DoughnutEcon @rethinkecon

HUGE loss to so many spaces. Feel blessed & privileged to have co-taught a #childrensliterature poetry lecture with him & he signed his 📚 to my students & girls. Once cooked him an Indian vegan meal with chapatis & channa. RIP #benjaminzephaniah 😢🙏🏾

We need to plant many more native trees in urban spaces, and better protect and value existing ones. This helps nature and wildlife. It's #ClimateAction. It reduces floods, pollution and urban heating. And it improves our lives. More: bit.ly/2eMCYds Via @nature_org

From sewage to spending plans, Treasury to Transport, let's make sure they don't forget.

Now what? We need to see restoration proposals for the miles of devastating damage to the countryside and nature in south #Staffordshire #Lichfield. Communities have been severed, acres of ancient woodland have been lost, footpaths diverted, farms sold, topsoil stripped.
Well, you could knock me down with a feather. That “media speculation” turns out to be, er, true. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-6…

All credit to the Guardian for running this front page, but it also highlights how difficult it is to get across the immensely complex nature of the crisis. The headline is record heat, but the story is what that means for food security, extreme weather, migration, geopolitics.

A few media outlets are picking up this story & making it prominent, but many are not. This is massive, especially considering discussions going for decades about the risk of an abrupt climatic shift. Might @JimSkeaIPCC have a comment?

Great to welcome Year 4s at Earth School on Weds for some #outdoorlearning fun. Our Human History workshops cover stone age and iron age, romans, saxons and vikings, bringing history to life in the landscape where it happened!
Yesterday our Y4 class continued their journey with @earth_trust looking at all of the different invaders who have conquered this Island over the years. An amazing, if tiring, day!
