Small prototype arcade racing game I'm working on with a ton of fun upgrades and other features I'm looking forward to share as it progresses.
Shown here is the abstract test track with weather and lighting effects.
Long way to go, but the core is feeling interesting.
From my personal engineering account, possibly useful for game developers who want high-scale metrics for their projects.
Finally got the marketing webpage together.

The future of gaming is a kid in a bedroom remaking the game that shaped his childhood, then shipping it to millions without asking a single suit for permission. That door is open now and it aint closing.

Support my boy! I have been watching this developer post day after day this passion project. From a black screen to an original, beautiful, analog, retro epic. Go wishlist! @AnalogDreamDev
I humbly announce my new solo-developed game: The King's Surveyor!
A first-person exploration adventure in the King's Field tradition. You are a surveyor flung to the far edge of a valley nobody has mapped, and a long, dangerous road back home.
Built in a custom engine over the last year, this game is all about getting back to the roots that got me into gaming in the first place!
Wishlist and a repost would genuinely help a solo dev: store.steampowered.com/app/5…

Exactly! I love indie games because it's like "OMG, someone thought of this?! How cool, let's explore this person's world and creation!" Some people stare at paintings for hours interpreting this and that...that's what playing indie games is for me! ☺️
I hope that this person finds a new game they love, whether it's built with AI or not. I truly do. I repost this as a way to frame a counter argument - I don't have any ill will towards this person, and if you choose to reply to this person, keep it positive or it's not really helping the situation.
I believe that our primary goal as game designers and developers is, and always will be, to ship fun games that players enjoy. I'll stay focused on that.
I totally get that there's an impression that AI always equates to garbage. I have no problem with this mindset, I just disagree.
Some of us have been creating games by hand since the 90s, so I also disagree that using AI to build bigger and better games in the modern era somehow means that someone doesn't know how to do it by hand. It's just not true. AI can be used as an amazing compressor of sorts, making it possible for indies and small teams to create things on a scale they never thought possible, or to iterate on game mechanics faster, landing on those 💡 moments more quickly. It's in the service of players, ultimately.
This is the dream I'm pursuing, and it's why I consider AI part of the toolkit.
But I well and truly don't mind if someone doesn't want to play a game I create because it has AI in it, or because AI was part of its production somehow. That's totally a personal choice, and I would never want to take that choice away from someone, just like I don't want choices taken away from me.
I'll keep doing my thing. I hope this phase where AI triggers such strong, visceral reactions fades over time. To be fair, the world does have a lot more spam in it, and I don't deny this.
I really do wish people peace and happiness.
PixelZ from @theMikaro looks pretty badass, I gotta be honest. pixelz.io/

100% tbh. even one small new thing a week keeps it fun, it's months on the exact same loop when it starts to feel like a chore
Fan of retro games? A very retro thing is possible again thanks to AI: every developer can make their own micro engine, completely customized to their game, and optimized to your heart's delight.
I hope this will lead to an exploration of new game mechanics, like it used to.
🤖 Made with AI
If your indie game is FUN, but made with AI, ignore the haters.
Focus on the fun. Focus on new and unique game mechanics. Focus on your creative expression.
There will always be a place for handmade games, like handmade furniture. But you do you. 1/n 🧵
6/n bring back innovation in genres that have been dominated by just a few studios (RTS, ARPG, open world RPGs, FPS).
5/n focus on making a game you always wanted to make, but it was so small and niche that it was never before worth it, but now you can get a prototype up and running tomorrow.
4/n focus on the fact that you can now make games at a scale that only AAA could before, and the possibilities that opens up.
