[🗳🇺🇸] hayley williams on substack today: "you ever voted so hard it makes you wanna cry?" as the midterm election results settle across the united states, the collective power of people choosing hope over fear has delivered a deeply moving message to the world. during her set at the iheartradio music festival, hayley looked out into the crowd to remind everyone that our future is decided by us when we stand up to protect women, working families, people of color, and the lgbtq+ community, declaring that the only way forward against oppression is exercising our right to vote. today, the outcome of this election shows what happens when people refuse to be silenced and turn collective courage into undeniable progress: chris pappas was elected as the first openly gay man in the u.s. senate, keisha lance bottoms was elected as the first black woman governor in u.s. history in georgia, gina hinojosa defeated greg abbott to become the first latina governor of texas, deb haaland became the first indigenous woman elected governor in u.s. history in new mexico, and peggy flanagan made history as the first indigenous woman elected to the u.s. senate. you can read full coverage and track all the historic lgbtq+ midterm election victories documented by them. here: them.us/politics/lgbtq-midte… this is why voting matters. it is our most direct way to defend the people we love, break barriers, and build a safer, more just future together.
