Which is weird since he told us the whole time there was no energy shock since the strait was open and prices would start going down imminently
BESSENT: THINK WE ARE GETTING ENERGY SUPPLY SHOCK, THINK FED SHOULD HAVE AN OPEN MIND

In retrospect, I’m bummed I missed the funding window for my datacenter😥😥
Datacenter investors are always scared of projects that cannot consume capital fast enough. Therefore I’m proud to inaugurate the Massive Jungle Datacenter (Phase II) so that you can be confident in spending hundreds of billions in additional capital👇

Picking up a fight with Canada and allying with Russia ahead of the mid-terms seems totally in line with U.S. public opinion.

Lost in the Immigration debate and the faux justification (i.e. labour shortages) is that Employee Compensation as a share of GDP continues to fall. This means employee wages, salaries, and pension contributions are shrinking relative to the economy.
This reeks of contempt for regular Canadian families.

Nearly 40% cumulative inflation in a decade. Trillion-dollar deficits. Exploding national debt. Money printing. A Fed that fanned the flames. This is what happens when fiscal and monetary discipline disappear. Americans are left paying the bill.

A large years-long revision to real retail sales just posted.
Real retail sales are still below their 2021 peak. 3% lower on a per capita basis.

Back in 2002, I remember that you could go on eBay and buy new $CSCO equipment, still in the box, for 10c on the dollar from internet startups that were getting liquidated. I figure that GPUs trade at similar levels in 2 years…

$CRWV is such an incredible company that CEO Michael Intrator, a former carbon credit salesman turned Ethereum mining expert, has apparently been unloading shares on retail investors for months. LOL. Meanwhile, the Twitter experts are working overtime to remind everyone what a can’t miss investment this POS supposedly is. You really can’t make this stuff up.

It's actually kind of impressive to me that multiple oil facilities across the Middle East can be struck on the same day and the press will never report on it

🇪🇺🇮🇷 Europe just admitted it paid $113 billion extra for energy without one additional molecule of gas or oil, while global stockpiles fall off a cliff and the oil price gets sold down around noon whenever Washington floats a deal Chris Martenson traded futures for years and recognizes the pattern. Bloomberg has noticed the noon selloffs on friendly deal headlines. The Financial Times reported in March that trading houses saw a huge new seller they couldn't identify, and in a market this small it isn't hard to guess who. Open interest drains because nobody wants to trade against a rigged book. The problem is that price is the signal, and a signal set too low while supply is short drains the tanks. Even with 12 million barrels a day getting out, the world is roughly 7 million short, Qatar's gas reportedly stays shut through November, and he hears freight now adds as much as $28 a barrel. Gold can be managed for decades because it sits on a shelf. Diesel gets burned. Fake the price long enough and the shortage arrives anyway. @chrismartenson

Below is the main reason why gold is holding up so well despite rising interest rates, a relatively strong US dollar (temporarily) and the Western investors' ill-advised ardor for AI bubble stocks. Shouldn't take much buying from Western investors to send gold into another rollicking rally. FT: "China has spent a record sum importing more than 1,000 tonnes of gold this year as the central bank and local investors pour cash into bullion amid rising geopolitical tensions abroad and poor returns on local assets." "The world’s second-largest economy spent $158.8bn on gold in the first eight months of the year. That compared with spending of $96.5bn for all of 2025 on 886 tonnes of gold." archive.is/20260922080138/ht…

there's also a highly relevant nuance in the types of Chinese steel imported to the three countries. The majority of Mexican steel imports from China are flat-rolled steel, which is used in automotive, appliances etc, some of which is destined for US market. In contrast, the majority of Canadian steel imports from China (a tiny minority of all available steel in Canada) is alloy steel bars, rods angles etc. Much, if not most of this, is used domestically in Canada. The recent trade case involving an unscrupulous trader concerned falsely labeled flat-rolled steel - an almost microscopic import into Canada.
