When #Illini HC Bret Bielema was in high school, he thought he'd play college football at D3 Augustana. But his father, Arnie, encouraged him to chase the biggest opportunities possible.
Bielema came home after school and found a letter on his bed from his dad, who passed away this weekend.
It said, "What you conceive in your mind and believe in your heart you will achieve."
"I tattooed (the quote) on my calf when I was at the University of Iowa," said Bielema.
Arnie, who sold sporting goods, used his connections to help get Bret at Iowa football camps and be discovered.
Bielema would walk on at Iowa, become a team captain and play in the Rose Bowl. After his collegiate career, he started his coaching career at Iowa.
Bielema said, "I just think about where I am now, 56 years of age. The decision he helped me make when I was 18, without helping me make it, he let me kind of come to that decision, has affected my life forever."

ASU Fans, do not lose your house for a motel. Kenny is the guy. You guys donât understand bashing the only guy who would not leave for Michigan does us no good. If he were to leave you think you get somebody better? 1000% no and they wonât have the same love for the program since not being home grown. Humble yourselves. We have won 10 games once since I been in that building and that was Kenny bringing us a Big12 championship. Stop acting like we all high and mighty now. We are building and the build started in 2023 with a 3-9 team. DM the kids and tell them stay down and build a culture. Stop going in on Kenny.

I sat with the latest news on Jalen Hurts last night, and three things weighed on me:
1. Jalenâs health is bigger than football.
2. The competence and allegiance of teamâs medical staffâs are questionable.
3. The responsibility of sports media to respect a playerâs character.
During my own health struggles in the league, a doctor once threw my test results on the table and said, âNow Iâll listen to you complain,â.
I needed answers then. From ownership, executives, coaches, and medical staff. Those same people should be answering questions in Philly right now.

How often do we let yesterday get in the way of tomorrow?
Love this from Jameis Winston:
âForget whatâs behind and press forward to whatâs ahead.â
Weâve all made mistakes. Weâve all had setbacks.
Learn from them, but donât let them hold you back.
Keep moving forward.đĽ

Georgia State is 4-1. Their offense is ranked 1st in the Sun Belt and 27th nationally.
Their offensive coordinator? Hue Jackson.
Jackson also serves as the quarterbacks coach. Started with the Panthers in 2024 as the assistant general manager.
Love this!
