My brother @fgomsan is one of the best urologists in the world. Laser and robotic surgery, all day. And he just built a Mac app. That makes this a lot more impressive. I run an iMac with a second monitor. For years the Dock lived on one screen only. Now it's on both. It's called MultiScreenDock. Native, free, open source, notarized by Apple. Took me a minute to find it. It hides at the bottom edge until you move the mouse there. Then it just works. If you use more than one screen on a Mac, try it: multiscreendock.fgomsan.here…

Whipped up this little explainer for one of our design partners for @rawtreedb It shows a multi-region BYOC cloud setup with a combination of regular and customer-owned S3 buckets.

As opposed to setting it all up in one region and point to customer-owned S3 buckets in multiple regions. This is a simpler setup, but likely to generate more problems at the database level with merges, different latencies and more prone to catastrophic failure.

"In practice, it needs access to everything. But also nothing." We thought access control was a solved problem, then agents showed up. On ep 1 of Technically Speaking, @grinich (founder of @WorkOS) & @meganreyno discuss: → Why AI agents require rethinking Auth: "It's kind of like spawning new people in your organization very quickly." → What's stopping companies from letting agents cook (it's not the quality of models or harnesses): "To err is human, but to screw up 10,000 times per second you need a computer." → How Michael is hiring differently bc of AI 🎥 Watch the full episode: youtu.be/2I8pJt9kXa8 Presented by our friends at @Railway. Original music by The Jazz Boys (don't sleep on them).

I'm launching a new show with @readtechnically! 🧨 How do we stop agents doing what they shouldn't? What do AI researchers actually do all day? Can the cloud run out of space? With Technically Speaking we're making complex ideas in software and AI accessible with the people building them 💥 @grinich @jefrankle @slippylolo @nerdsane @JustJake
it seems like every week the AI wave exposes a new set of technical terms that we should know about. so we phoned a friend (@meganreyno), and this Thursday we’re launching Technically Speaking - bringing in technical founders & leaders to break down the technical problem they’ve spent years obsessing over. the Season 1 lineup is downright effervescent: - Michael Grinich (WorkOS) on Auth - Jonathan Frankle (Databricks) on AI research - Julien Launay and Sesh Nalla (Datadog) on RL - Jake Cooper (Railway) on Cloud - and five (5!) more special guests to be announced new episodes posting every Thursday until the holidays. who should we have on next?

We have been using Devin Oncall since beta in @rawtreedb and cannot live without it. It is our first layer of defense when an alert comes.
Introducing Devin Oncall: Devin automatically investigates alerts and bugs, helping your team diagnose and resolve production incidents. Devin Oncall already handles thousands of alerts every day for some of the world’s largest companies. Let it become your SRE today.

RawTree is now an official power in @kirodotdev. Add it to Kiro and the agent in your IDE can explore and query your RawTree data with SQL, with no schema or dashboards to set up first. We tried it on our own OpenTelemetry traces. We asked the agent what had broken over a recent window, and it ran SQL on the spans, traced the errors back to the endpoint that had started failing, and showed the queries behind its answer. That is the loop we want for every team building with agents: send the data as it comes, then ask questions of it from wherever you work. kiro.dev/powers/

I left my phone at home this morning and my first thought was: "I hope I don't have to login with 2FA anywhere" 😂 Says something about my social life I suspect...

Isn't this nice? An API key is all you need to capture and store OpenTelemetry data from an @eve agent. Literally no setup. (You don't even have to create a specific database and traces table unless you really want to)
Create a database called telemetry and a traces table in RawTree. Add Eve’s OTel exporter, point it at RawTree, and authenticate with a write-only API key. Eve handles batching and flushing. No separate collector needed.

while working on this I faced the issue of not being able to set the default db for the write api key, the app kept reading default one. Hand rasied and a few moments later @nmediavilla19 designed, @rmorehig merged 🐐 teapawt.net/rawtreedb/status/21056…
We've run Jev on every PR in our main repo for a while now, and people liked it enough that we open-sourced it. It scores each PR on 19 quality dimensions, adds a GitHub check, and logs the result to RawTree so we can chart it. Quick thread on how the CI works 👇 teapawt.net/jorgesancha/status/210…

I find that LLMs have made focusing on the right things more important than ever. Almost anything is buildable now, and speed is "cheap". Focus + good choices is what compounds now. And bad choices may have a huge opportunity cost.
