As good a time as any to remind that league-wide aDoT continues to trend down!

I teamed up with @josephjefe for a Giants vs Chiefs preview and wrote more than 280 characters.
Give it a read and bully me into writing more long-form content:

The Chiefs start their season in Brazil vs the Chargers. A Super Bowl rematch in Week 2, a week 10 bye week, and three of their last four games are division games.
Reminder: You can get a schedule like this for your team and time zone from my app here!

Yes, I discuss it every year. It's in my post-grade pieces and in my 2016-2021 analysts vs the NFL piece that I just tweeted out
The consensus board is pretty good! Here's last year's grades for some of that discussion wideleft.football/p/the-2024…

You guys think player evaluation so difficult when you can just be like the Eagles, Chiefs and Ravens skip scouting and draft off of the consensus big board

With 32 picks in the books, here is how each pick compared to their ranking on @ArifHasanNFL's consensus big board.
"steal" = player was among the best available players when selected, "reach" = player ranked lower on board when selected.

I reviewed Josh Simmons' film two days before the draft.
There's a reason why I was thrilled the Chiefs drafted him (never mind doing so after acquiring an extra 5th rounder).
You should read it. And cackle maniacally.

🚨EMERGENCY POD🚨
The Chiefs selected left tackle Josh Simmons with their first-round pick on Thursday!
The Old Man and I break it all down, including...
🏈For or against the pick?
🏈What are the medicals?
🏈What does the tape say? And more!

The Josh Simmons-Chiefs pairing seemed to write itself. It's so hard to find OT talent, and usually you have to take it early in the draft. Simmons has top-15 talent, but has the injury. Chiefs can even be patient as Simmons works back from injury after the Jaylon Moore signing.

Brett Veach got Josh Simmons and a 5th round draft pick! It’s Veach season! 😎

Chiefs GM Brett Veach: "We did a ton of work on Josh. We got a chance to meet Josh at the formal at the combine. Brought him in for the 30 visit and did some extra work on the knee. We did a zoom with him just yesterday. . . When he's healthy and the tape he had before the injury, it puts him in the upper echelon of what he could be in a future starter at left tackle"

Josh Simmons says no team showed more interest in him than the Chiefs did. Met at the Combine, had a 30 visit to KC and had multiple Zoom meetings with the club.

✅️ I thought this pick was too obvious, too heavily mocked, too perfect a fit for it to actually happen. I especially love getting an extra pick in the process.

Brett Veach on the structure of the knee
“We were saying early on this is a really good surgery and the knee looks really good. He was well ahead of where he should be at that stage. There’s strong belief from Rick (Burkholder) that he’ll be good for training camp.”

Chiefs 2024 LT battle was Kingsley (a late 2nd rookie) and Wanya Morris (a 3rd round spot starter).
Chiefs 2025 LT battle is Jaylon Moore (who actually has good snaps at LT in the NFL) and Josh Simmons (1st round pick from Ohio State).
Feel better this year, by a gigantic bit.
