The @LASACONGRESS conferences are financially out of reach for me. I’d have to pay (very pricey) membership out of my own pocket as well as most of the travel and accommodation costs because our research budget barely covers registration. It’s even worse for LA-based scholars.

I get that it’d also come with big drawbacks, like making it harder for American scholars to attend, but tbh I would love for LASA conferences going forward to be held in Latin America as a rule Next year is San Francisco which sounds fine and I’ll go, but LatAm sounds better
