The US Department of Labor has cited a Frankfort-based utility construction company for repeatedly exposing employees to evacuate safety hazards after federal investigators observed employees working in an unprotected trench.
OSHA initiated an investigation of Always Underground LLC as part of its National Emphasis Program on Trenching after witnessing employees working in an unprotected trench deeper than eight feet.
OSHA cited the employer for 3 repeat violations for failing to provide workers with a safe means of egress, to install a trench protective system that would protect against cave-ins, and to keep excavated or other materials and equipment at least 2 feet from the edge.
Additionally, the agency cited the employer for a serious violation for failing to provide workers with protective hardhats against falling objects.
In total, OSHA proposed $380,664 in penalties.
Falls from ladders can cause serious injuries or even death. Before you climb, inspect your ladder, make sure it’s on stable, level ground, and maintain three points of contact. Never overreach, rush, or climb with your hands full.

⚠️ We are warning Calgarians about fraudulent phone calls from scammers impersonating members of the Calgary Police Service’s senior officers’ team.
📞 In many cases, callers claim to be investigating the person they have contacted or leave a voicemail identifying themselves as a CPS officer or senior member. The phone number displayed on caller ID may also appear to be a legitimate CPS number.
Remember, CPS officers will never contact you & request money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, banking information or financial cards as part of an investigation.
Protect yourself from police impersonation scams:
🔹 Be suspicious of unexpected calls or voicemails from someone claiming to be a police officer, Deputy Chief, Chief or other CPS member, particularly if you are told you are under investigation or pressured to act quickly.
🔹 Do not provide personal information, banking details, passwords or identification documents to an unsolicited caller.
🔹 Do not trust caller ID alone. A displayed phone number can be spoofed to appear as though a call is coming from CPS.
🔹 Never send money, gift cards or cryptocurrency to someone claiming to be a police officer.
🔹 If you are unsure whether a call is legitimate, hang up and contact CPS directly using a verified phone number.
🔹 Talk to family & friends about police impersonation scams so they know what to watch for.
Anyone who has suffered a financial loss or had their personal information compromised as a result of fraud can report it to the Calgary Police Service non-emergency line at 403-266-1234 or contact Crime Stoppers.
When Parliament passed the #Westray amendments, it never funded or trained police services to use them, leaving no policies or procedures in place for this kind of investigation.
