Its almost like the FDA is purposely trying to make sure that Big Tobacco achieves total domination of the oral nicotine pouches market before it approves any from smaller independent companies. Sweden appears to be taking a stance that is much too sensible:
“Sweden supports harmonising EU tobacco taxation rules in principle, but objects to requiring nicotine pouches to bear the same minimum tax burden as certain smoked tobacco products.”

Sweden is threatening to block the EU’s proposed tobacco tax overhaul, with a dispute over nicotine pouch excise duties emerging ahead of a November 9 meeting.
The disagreement centers on EU-wide minimum tax rates for tobacco and newer nicotine products, including nicotine pouches. Sweden’s position could complicate negotiations on a directive that requires unanimous agreement among EU member states.
