i think a 4 day week would genuinely be the most transformational policy of a generation. would improve life in so many ways.
🚨 NEW: 67% of Tory voters back a reduced four day working week of 32 hours if they don’t lose any pay

was surprised how happy i was when R9 announced it. I’ve rated Kane as world class for years, and it seriously annoyed me how people held Spurs’ lack of titles against a clearly generational footballer, so for him to win one of the highest honours is really neat.

Yugoslav map of Britain & Ireland from the 1980s, with English place names amusingly rendered phonetically to reflect their pronunciation.
Credit: Reddit user TheKingMonkey who explains the maps origins:
"From a display on the wall of the ‘Museum of the 80s’ in Sarajevo, Bosnia. I’m not sure why I like the Serbo-Croat (or at least that’s what I assume it is) names for the cities as they look like they are almost phonetic attempts at English language pronunciations."

We need more of this in Britain. Reboot civic pride and cobble the streets. Cobbled streets provide exceptional longevity (a properly installed cobblestone street can last for hundreds of years), natural water management, built-in speed reductions and a timeless aesthetic value.

Credit where credit is due. Durham county council re cobbled this street and it looks brilliant
We can and must make this national policy

This is, I think, the third time that a new railway station’s patronage has been double the predicted volume. Transport analysts: does this mean the current predictive model is broken? And wouldn’t that shift up the business case for other dismissed reopenings / new stations…?
Build it and they will come! More than double the predicted number of passengers used Beaulieu Park station in its first year

people replying like the rest of europe hasn't been removing cars from city centres for years now
and all of them are cleaner, happier, prettier public spaces which their residents prefer
First govt to institute mass public beatification, walkability (coupled with large expansion of integrated public transport links) and support for community/local/worker-owned shops with crackdown on dodgy businesses has the mandate of the Lord Himself
Connor needs to be captain
🗣️ Connor Roberts speaking after today's game
"Dire. You can’t sum it up to be honest. There’s nothing I can say that will make anything remotely better. Truly abysmal day for us as players, for the fans and as a football club. It’s far from ideal, but the only thing you can do is wake up tomorrow, try and do better next time and get on with it to be honest.
What an absolute embarrassment these lot are.
The players, the management, the owners all do not deserve to represent this wonderful club of ours.
Get out now, the lot of you, you spineless bunch of overpaid clowns.
