On my third kid. Couldn’t imagine homeschooling them 😂
I am not bullish on homeschooling at all.
I know that someone like me is "supposed to" be, but I just can't muster any enthusiasm for it.
As an "emergency measure" when local public schools are awful, and when solid Catholic schools are either absent or unaffordable? OK -- it's a valid survival strategy in those cases. It's one way to cope, but I could never affirm homeschooling as the "ideal" way to educate children.
That's because I believe in civilization. Hiding out in the woods and attempting to reproduce basic public goods is not really my cup of tea. I'd much rather see the basic infrastructure of producing a virtuous citizenry exist again, and if that's not in the public schools -- OK, I'll find a way to earn enough to pay for an ICLE or Newman certified Catholic school, where there are teachers who speak Greek and Latin, are Canon lawyers, and so on. I'd be thrilled to support such schools where they exist, and will even move far away to be near one if I must.
Where some look at homeschooling and see freedom and security, I see a kind of longhoused, burnout-inducing, inadequate, cloistered, and basically anti-civilizational affair. And by what I've seen of the results, "hiding in the woods with mommy" in this fashion seems to make for poorly-socialized kids, feminized boys, and a neurotic, paranoiac attitude. There are exceptions, but the exceptions are not the rule.
Exhausted moms who are nursing babies, perhaps have morning sickness, teenager needs help with the math, 8-year-old with the reading, 5-year-old needs a snack, 2-year-old just hit his head on the table and is crying, the house needs cleaned, the goat just got loose, call-dad-the-fridge-is-broken -- it's chaos. Yes, some people manage it if they have a sufficiently workaholic mother in the home. But of course, if you do not believe in birth control, eventually you will have so many kids that even superhuman moms cannot handle it -- and the kids' education will be the first thing to suffer. If there are smartphones or video games in the house -- it's all downhill from there.
I do not think that this "trend" will be looked up on favorably in 20 years' time. We meet more and more families who, after many years of trying their best to homeschool, eventually decide to enroll their kids in school. They're often intensely guilty about this, and face an incredible amount of shame from the hardcore homeschoolers (who almost brag about how exhausted they are). But they shouldn't face shame. Part of living in a civilization means accepting a division of labor; and in education, this means finding sufficiently virtuous and scholarly teachers to teach your kids things that you are not at all equipped to teach.
Our situation with schooling in the USA is not a good one, but giving up on society is the wrong response. I thank God for the Catholic schools out there that actually teach the Faith, read the Classics, and do their best to keep tuition affordable. Come hell or high water -- our kids will be enrolled in such a school no matter what it costs me.
I can’t wait to get my wife a Tesla SUV. Every time she gets in her current SUV with our three kids, it makes me nervous. Driving makes no sense anymore. Not safe!

My grandfather built McCormick Spices from nothing after your ancestors tomahawked his wife and kids. I'll be damned if you take another scalp from my family fortune!
This obviously works. I think most guys who take this path meet their wives between 20 and 25. After 25, the dating scene becomes a minefield, with a lot more baggage and complicated people.
I didn’t get married until 37, so I know firsthand. I’m convinced everyone bashing this post didn’t get married young, aka didn’t follow this advice. Now they’re out here navigating the minefield, battling 30-year-olds on OnlyFans and yachts. 😂
Get married young folks!
Attention Young Men:
I am surrounded by 20 year old girls in my life that are smart, capable, hard working and cute. Nobody is dating them. Not sure what the deal is, but I don’t get it.
Step 1: Stop playing video games
Step 2: Head to great clips and get that lettuce cleaned up
Step 3: Hit a shower (when dating hygiene is critical)
Step 4: Go clean your car
Step 5: Sign up for a yoga class
Step 6: Go to the yoga class
Step 7: Ask a cute for her phone number at yoga class (yes you can meet girls IRL and not just on the apps - 10/10 the Dirt Dog highly recommends)
Step 8: Follow up within 2 days with a phone call and ask them out for this coming weekend Friday or Saturday night.
Step 9: IMPORTANT - come up with a good game plane for date night. Get a dinner reservation, get an activity planned. Let them know in advance what you are doing so they can dress appropriately. I know you are gunna roll off the couch and head to date night, but they are not. They are going to stress about what to wear and call at least 6 different people on FaceTime to ask their opinion.
Step 10: I highly recommend you bring flowers to the door step. I’m not covering that you go to the doorstep, because if you don’t do that you have no hope here. Women want men to date them. You don’t need to break the bank on flowers. Head to Trader Joe’s. Grab 2 different kinds of flowers. If you don’t know what matches find the closest looking lady to your mom at TJ’s and ask her. Wrap the 2 flowers into 1 bouquet with paper. Bonus Points you can cut open a TJ bag and use that as the paper.
Step 11: Be a gentleman on the date. She isn’t there to hear your life story. Ask her about her. For every 1 question you answer, ask her 3. Open Doors, pay for the meal, be polite.
Provided you follow most of this guideline you are highly likely to get yourself an opportunity for date number 2.
Keep going until you find someone that you can’t imagine not being around all the time. That’s when you have found a good one for you.
My life is complete with my wife as my companion. I wish you the same fortune in life. Happy Hunting.
Why is my daughter working for $85K at 32 instead of raising four kids?
Rent is per room, buddy.
“Your girlfriend has been sleeping here for 19 days. She needs to start paying rent.”
My roommate looked at me like I had just insulted him.
“She’s my girlfriend, not a tenant.”
“She’s here more than you are.”
“That’s an exaggeration.”
“It’s not.”
I opened the fridge.
“Her groceries are here.”
Then I pointed toward the bathroom.
“Her shampoo, makeup, clothes, and toothbrush are all here.”
He laughed.
“So what? She visits me.”
“Visitors don’t practically move in.”
“She doesn’t live here.”
“Then why did she ask me yesterday if she could get a key?”
He went quiet.
“She just wanted one in case I’m not home.”
My wife was 30 minutes late to our first date. I married her anyway.
Five years, two kids, and another on the way later, we’re down to 10–15 minutes late 😂
If you’re filtering women by punctuality, good luck, buddy.
Single girlfriend in NYC's text exchange with a Raya match. This is tough...
In her defense, 15 minutes isn't crazy late for NYC. The guy's texts also invite drama. You're already at the table, why not wait and see how she reacts in-person, then decide whether you're still interested?
In his defense, she should've at least been in the car by 7:15 for a 7:15 date. An apology for being late feels 100% appropriate.
IMO they both could've done better. It's also clearly not a match, so at least they figured that part out 🥲
