Potentially controversial this one - is it right that companies such as BP should be hit with a windfall tax in the 'good times'? bbc.co.uk/news/business-6029…

Do / did any of the many non-energy companies that won massively as a result of the pandemic get hit with a windfall tax? Trouble is energy is very politicised. I'm sure there are many twists and turns to this - I'm interested in hearing what they are.

Do / did they get any help during 'bad times' e.g. when the price of gas went through the floor in the depths of the pandemic in 2020? What about all the expensive gas we are importing from other countries that we can't levy a windfall tax on?
#UKETS / #EUETS if you are 'in' it doesn't mean you can't get 'out' and significantly reduce your operating costs. nowthenenergy.co.uk/blog/uke…

Tight margins (again) - #electricity £500/MWh for 18:00 tomorrow. This is business as usual nowadays. Low prices when its #windy or #sunny and high prices when it isn't. All being well @ng_eso continue to keep it all on track (as usual) and we don't end up with a #TexasBlackout
We’re forecasting tight margins on the #electricity system this week (from tomorrow onwards) owing to a combination of weather-related factors and unavailability of power sources over periods of the day with higher demand [1/3]
#electricity could be expensive next week. Brace yourself #CHP

Depending on which weather model you use, Monday to Thursday next week have low wind and therefore tight margins so power will get very expensive ^PH

Heads up - high #electricity prices coming your way this week! #CHP #electricity
We’re forecasting tight margins on the #electricity system later this week (Wed-Fri) owing to a combination of weather-related factors (inc renewable generation levels and below seasonal avg temperatures) and generator availability over periods of the day with higher demand [1/3]
