The railroad merger would be devastating for many of them. Credit to @RogerMarshallMD for putting a number on this: he warns roughly 240 Kansas rail-served facilities would be captive to the merged railroad. That’s a lot of people left with fewer options! The hypocrisy is staggering.
But the brutal truth is that so many everyday average Americans will only see their clips. Those democrat clips will be what is played on the left leaning news outlets, written about in articles and talked about on podcasts. So that demographic will be outraged - without full context - and stand with them. Vote for them. Because they got their “news and information” from what they feel is a reputable source and think they are so smart and in the know, when in fact they only got half the story.
It’s applauding and a disgrace because the free press is supposed to be a representative of the American people. They are supposed to be non biased and push for the truth and hold accountability of our elected officials.
Our founding fathers had such regard and faith in them to keep us all informed yet today with everyone so busy in life we are only getting a fraction of what is going on in DC.

This is a really important post by @KemiBadenoch, but it’s still only a small part of a much wider pattern that continues to happen.
The pattern is simple. One side treats an old injury as permanently open so it can be used whenever needed. The other side is never allowed to close the file.
It works the same way a spouse keeps an affair on the table years after it was supposedly resolved. Every new argument can be redirected back to the original betrayal. The person who was wronged never has to answer for their own later actions because the past supplies a standing exemption. The goal is not repair. The goal is to keep the leverage.
What gets left out is that the group doing the blaming almost always erases its own role in the events that came before it. The transatlantic slave trade was one slice of a much larger trade that ran for centuries. African kingdoms and merchants captured, sold, and profited from the bulk of it. By narrowing the frame to the European portion, the preceding African participation disappears and the remaining guilt can be assigned entirely to someone else. Even the enslavement of white Europeans is erased from their version.
Palestinians run the same revision. The fake Nakba story and fake occupation are treated as the start of the story in an attempt to legitimize it. The pogroms and massacres of Jews by Muslims that came before are dropped. Jordan and Egypt’s 18-year occupation of the same territory is left out. The fact that the mosque on the Temple Mount sits on a Jewish temple that predates it by a millennium is removed from the account. Once those earlier facts are gone, the remaining narrative can be used as an open-ended claim against Jews alone.
The mechanism is the same in both cases. Select the convenient slice, erase what came before, and keep the grievance available so that later conduct never has to stand on its own. The only open question is why the rest of the world continues to treat the edited version as the full record.
Slavery was an evil in which people from every continent and region participated. We should be honest about the whole history, not select the parts that are politically convenient today, especially given Britain's leading role in ending the transatlantic slave trade.
If Caribbean countries are asking Britain for a formal apology for Britain’s role in the transatlantic slave trade, will they also be asking the same of the descendants of African kingdoms, rulers and merchants who captured, sold and profited from the trade?
On demands for reparations, whether through cash or debt relief, we have been down this track before. Twenty-five years ago, Jubilee 2000, Drop the Debt and Make Poverty History argued that cancelling the debts of poorer countries would give them a fresh start. More than $100 billion of debt was eventually written off, but many of those countries have since built up even bigger debts. Labour are already spending too much on Britain's welfare state, now is not the time for Andy Burnham to be providing global welfare.
There is no reason British taxpayers today should be held financially responsible for things that happened generations before any of us were born. And I have even less patience for political elites in commonwealth countries who don’t know how to make their own citizens prosperous now looking for another opportunity to blame Britain.
As Prime Minister, Andy Burnham should be Britain’s greatest defender. Instead, he is writing articles saying we need to confront our history (as if we haven't done enough of that) and considering another formal historical apology. Tony Blair already expressed Britain’s deep sorrow and regret for our role in the slave trade nearly twenty years ago. There is no need to do so again.
This is all another navel-gazing distraction. The Commonwealth should be looking forward, not endlessly backwards. That means economic partnerships to make us all richer and deeper military and security cooperation against common threats. If every Commonwealth summit becomes an exercise in presenting Britain with demands for cash then we need to start asking if it is worth the effort.
