I CALLED TO CANCEL MY FAMILY’S HEALTH INSURANCE BECAUSE I COULDN’T AFFORD IT ANYMORE.
The rep asked why.
I told her I was paying $640 a month for a family plan with a $8,500 deductible.
That’s $7,680 a year just to keep the policy active. And if someone gets seriously sick, I could still owe thousands before insurance starts covering more of the bill.
She explained that the plan helps pay for eligible care after I meet my deductible.
I told her I understood the policy. What I don’t understand is how a family can spend nearly $8,000 a year on insurance and STILL be afraid to go to the hospital.
She had nothing to say.
WE’RE PAYING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO PROTECT OURSELVES FROM MEDICAL BILLS THAT COULD STILL FINANCIALLY DESTROY US. WHAT THE HELL IS THE POINT?

Remember when streaming services promised an escape from annoying TV commercials?
Well, those days are apparently OVER.
One frustrated customer says his girlfriend pays extra for Amazon Prime Video's ad-free experience.
But their movie STILL started with an advertisement.
Then things got even more ridiculous.
Throughout the movie, scenes faded to black where commercial breaks would normally appear.
And when they paused the movie? Another advertisement.
Meanwhile, Disney+ has also faced criticism over terms allowing certain promotions even on ad-free plans.
Think about how insane this has become.
First, Americans paid for streaming to escape commercials.
Then streaming companies introduced ads.
Now they're charging EXTRA to remove them while still allowing certain promotional content.
Ad-free plans can have exceptions, and this customer's experience hasn't been independently verified.
How the hell can streaming companies charge us EXTRA for an ad-free experience and STILL find ways to shove advertisements in our faces?
