it’s easy to forget, now that the Marvel movies have descended into pure slop, that Stewart brought actual emotion and depth to X-Men.
I will always remember his performance as an aged, deteriorating Xavier in Logan (2017), pleading with Wolverine to help people again.
Breaking News: Patrick Stewart, who found acclaim as a Shakespearean actor before making a career pivot that would bring him his greatest fame, has died at 86. He achieved pop-culture stardom with major roles in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and “X-Men.” nyti.ms/4zc4Ka8

No one is more responsible for NC becoming a right-wing laboratory over the past 16 years than TIllis and Berger, and at the exact moment they're both about to be forced into retirement by the even-further-right, the whole thing they built is falling apart
it’s a testament to just how insane the Republican Party staffer and candidate class is, that they thought this would work.
their brains are so atrophied, so warped, that they genuinely thought this as would make Amy Acton would look like a villain rather than a survivor.
.@VivekGRamaswamy campaign responds:

ALT Attributable to Connie Luck, spokesperson for the Vivek Ramaswamy campaign: “We don't know what happened between Amy and her mother, who first spoke out about Amy in 2020, but we know that Amy Acton is a serial fabulist who has some serious problems with the truth that the public needs to be aware of before deciding who to entrust as governor.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Donna Arthur lost custody of Amy Acton at age 12 after Acton's stepfather was charged with raping her. Arthur stayed married to him until his death. Acton and her brother have been estranged since. Multiple outlets cite 1978 court records of the charges.

Heidi Levine, photojournalist for @wapo suffered serious injuries from vicious & cowardly attack. Heidi is US Citizen, clear ID as journalist. Details of who under investigation, but those who attacked unarmed reporter should spend YRS in prison. We have called for a full investigation, arrest, and prosecution to the fullest extent of the law to whoever participated in this. Attacking a female photographer is despicable act of terror carried out by masked cowards. Dishonorable act of senseless violence.
right now, a million gay boys in Brooklyn are doordashing shake-and-go wigs for their Katie Zacharia Halloween costumes.

Katie Zacharia has been fired as White House press secretary after less than one week on the job.

To be clear, the only reason I was able to reach Heidi was because young Palestinians provided cover with rocks against machine-gun- and tear-gas-wielding settlers and soldiers. It’s those kids, not the settler terrorists, who the IDF was hunting after the attack.

Breaking my brain by looking through the responses and realizing people don't realize the joke is on Ackroyd's misogynistic character. When confronted by a confident woman who knows what she's talking about, he is reduced to a petulant, one-line temper tantrum.
i would like to remind everyone who is mad at Shane Gillis that SNL was built on “Jane you ignorant sl*t” teapawt.net/sonecrockett/status/21…

I don’t think you have a dog in this fight but if you did you would have shot it.
I’ll take @ellalangleymsic over Kacey Musgraves any day.
And if I’m choosin’ Texas, I’ll take Ken Paxton over James Talarico.
it’s hard to explain exactly, but posting something shit like this and thinking it’s gonna be a slam dunk is veryyyyyyy ai bro-coded.
like just a complete dogshit opinion posted with the confidence of someone who believes they will be greeted as a king

EXCLUSIVE: “Heaven forbid, if we lose this majority or whatever, I don't know what my next chapter of life is,” says SPEAKER JOHNSON as he opens up to me about the midterms. “If God moves on our hearts and says we should, you know, go back to my hometown of Shreveport and start a lawn business, I'll do that with equal fervor. I mean, I just want to be of my highest and best use.. to God and to my country.”
Every single AI company is hoping to replace the internet with their own paid, controlled platform.
Google wants to replace your ability to search the internet and form conclusions with “pay us to do it.” another AI wants to replace Google flights. rinse, collect money, repeat.

The high level of automation that already exists in these kinds of digital tasks (you can already pay your credit card bill automatically with your bank's app, unsubscribe is one click in gmail, checking in for a flight is one tap of a push notif) is sufficient for most people.
I find these takes really confusing.
you have a 150 IQ+ tireless genius living in your computer. it can use your browser and read your email and access any file you want. it won't complain if you give it the most tedious administrative tasks. it is willing to work 24/7 for less than minimum wage. it can work unsupervised for hours at a time.
and you can't think of any way to put it to use?
are you completely lacking in imagination or do you enjoy mundane administrative tasks? you enjoy paying parking tickets and triaging emails and manually unsubscribing from spam and vetting credit card payments and canceling subscriptions and renegotiating insurance? you like doing that?
