Civil rights leader, former U.N. ambassador and Atlanta mayor Andrew Young broke down in tears Wednesday as he celebrated Keisha Lance Bottoms becoming the first Black woman elected governor in the United States.
Young, who worked alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., said he has known Bottoms since she was a child and that her victory honors the women who marched during the civil rights movement. Bottoms will take office in January, succeeding Gov. Brian Kemp.
