A cop takes about six minutes to reach a shoplifting call. The drone takes 97 seconds. That four minute gap was the entire business model of grab-and-run theft, and it just closed.
In Chula Vista, the department that invented drone-first response, the aircraft launches while the 911 call is still in progress, ignores every red light, and beats patrol to the scene almost every time. Then it just follows you. A dispatcher reads your position to ground units while you wander a parking lot thinking you got away. The two suspects in this clip aren't even running hard. Why would they? For their entire careers, walking fast was enough.
The wild part is how quickly this scaled. For years the FAA choked these programs with paperwork. Then between April 2025 and February 2026 it cleared over 1,000 police agencies to fly drones beyond visual line of sight. The previous seven years combined produced 976. Motorola just led a $125M round into BRINC with the stated goal of putting a 911 drone on every one of America's roughly 80,000 police and fire station roofs.
Chula Vista's data shows where this ends up. 25,000 missions. A role in 4,138 arrests. And on 4,629 calls, no officer showed up at all, because the drone alone settled it.
Petty theft survived for decades on a head start. The head start is gone.

How is the city budget of San Francisco one million trillion dollars per year and yet branch libraries are open FOUR (4) hours out of the day on a Sunday

signs you’re a bottom tier member of society:
- littering
- cutting in line
- not returning your shopping cart
- not saying thank you when someone holds the door
- parking in a handicap spot when you don’t need one
- carving your name into or graffitiing nature
- wearing pajamas to the airport
- passing your pet off as a service animal
- being rude to service workers
- lying/stealing/cheating
And a dirty city, awful summer humidity, terrible winters, and a subway system where random people want to push onto the tracks. Oh don’t forget the city tax.

Come on, people. We’ve all been in the Bay Area long enough to realize that if you see @StanleyRoberts nearby, you sure as hell better behave yourselves.

This is blowing my mind:
BART spends $1.10 in electricity per passenger ride, average ride is 15 miles.
My Tesla Model Y is far more efficient: it costs $0.76 to go 15 miles. And it can carry 5 people, so could actually be far more efficient if not traveling solo.
I'm thinking of moving @Kugamon outside SF, due to SF License, Business Property, Gross Receipts, and Other Taxes.
I ask Claude to research extensively which Bay Area city is the best to relocate to.
Winner = Lafayette (absolute lowest tax), Sunnyvale (low tax, best for tech/AI proximity)
To CEOs / Founders:
Here is great Claude Cowork / Codex / Perplexity prompt if you considered moving your business to a new city. Just change your company name and locality. You will be pleasantly surprised by the result.
"Which city in the greater San Francisco bay area has the cheapest business tax? Currently Kugamon is based in San Francisco, but the license, business property, and other taxes are too much. I am open to moving Kugamon to another city, but I don't know which one. Please be exhaustive in your research. Present findings in a pretty docx with charts, graphs, tables, and colors. Include recommendations. Cite all sources, do not make numbers, double check all facts."
Makes choosing @united for SFO to BOS a no-brainer

A gaslighting idiotic premise.
People are already made to pay $8 to $11 dollars in tolls for the GG Bridge or Bay Bridge.
And often they have to pay even more to park.
There are already deterrents to driving in, & they already would have taken transit if it was a better fit for them.
Adding more fees will just further kill San Francisco small businesses which rely on out of town customers to keep them afloat.
Just improve transit to make it a better option, or allow 3rd party companies to provide better alternatives.
Congestion fees, more tolls are just misanthropic policy ideas that increase the cost of living, and bypass fiscal mismanagement of transit.

I love adaptive reuse.
At 150 Hayes, they are turning an ugly vacant office building to a beautiful 105-unit residential building (1,2,3 BR's) for ~$350/sf (construction cost) + $225/sf (acquisition cost).
The project only pencils because SF waived affordable-housing requirements for office-to-resi conversions.
$575/sf (construction + acquisition cost) seems like a pretty good deal for what looks like a nice building. The same guys did a great job on 100 Van Ness.

The Bay Area is the only place in the entire world where people in the inside lane on the highway think it’s acceptable to drive the speed limit

common misperception. west coast liberals and east coast liberals are extremely different, especially on taxes.
In Massachusetts I pay about 1/2 the state tax rate and about 1/3 the property tax rate I would in CA.
Cambridge just upzoned the entire city, so more homes can be built legally in Cambridge than the rest of MA and tbh i would bet all of California. It has the same zoning as Paris now. also there are very few homeless people and many homeless shelters, though could ofc be even better.
The public schools are the best in the country.
it's night and day because the government actually does their job and takes taxation seriously.
Replying to @agupta
afraid if this passess in Cali then it passing in MA is probably a high likelyhood too - the politics aren't that different.
