‘The contempt for the Sudanese victims of the UAE is exceptionally bewildering even in an era of outrages. Nusseibeh’s appointment can only be secured by stepping over the dead, and turning backs on the living.’
‘The appointment of Nusseibeh, who has been the face of the UAE’s Sudan strategy, would be a slap in the face to the millions of people suffering the horrors of war, and a dereliction of duty towards those thousands who have already been killed.’

Lula da Silva with Prof Samir Amin #RIP. I believe this meeting took place in 1999 under the auspices of the Frente de Esquerda in Brazil.

the siege of El-Fasher should have been a turning point in the war in Sudan / it should have been enough to indict the UAE & RSF / a city held under siege for over 500 days (ending in Oct 25')--ppl malnourished, murdered & raped / instead it was an event that passed w/o incident

I know up is down these days but serenading the UN for a position when you undermined the same institution and rejected the UN Panel of Experts’ findings on UAE links to the RSF to run cover for your government’s calamitous role in Sudan’s war is an outrage and an insult.
I've spent much of my life in and around the @UN. What stays with me most is its people: colleagues who, in the world's hardest places, deliver food and medicine, protect civilians and help parties take the first steps towards peace.
The UN was never meant to agree with the world. It was built to help the world agree. This UN Day, I remain confident in what the United Nations can achieve - and in the future we can build when it acts early, supports its personnel, and measures success by what changes on the ground. #UNDay

Yet Sudan's gov says they don't expect a bad harvest, continuing a trend of denying famine because of the foreign attention it invites. Aid budgets are too small to cope anyways.
As the country produces less, and is able to imoprt less, we are heading for a nationwide disaster.
if the UN confirms an Emirati as Secretary-General it will be the final nail in the coffin, confirming that the UN has never been more than a post-WWII racket designed to maintain Euro-American hegemony. Palestine showed this juridically, & Sudan will confirm it administratively.

They’re all bad.
The sooner you accept that fact, the clearer your vision will be, and the easier you will dodge the crash of disappointment and disillusionment.
Until then, you’re setting yourself up for failure.

Something like 300 people dead in 24 hours. Drone warfare is annihilating us.
Death toll from Abyei market drone strike rises to more than 220 #ssox eyeradio.org/death-toll-from…
SAF indiscriminately bombed Abyei and killed over 70 people at a market. A market that so many rely on because the war and environmental conditions have made it near impossible to sustain crops. The loss and traumatization our people continue to be subjected to is so infuriating.
it's nice to celebrate the French revolutionary spirit & its ideals of liberté, égalité, & fraternité. still, when Haiti tried to realize the universal meaning of those ideals 1791–1804 it was ostracized & made to pay reparations for its freedom. liberalism always had its limits

The US admin wants to take advantage of the situation in Sudan the way it's taken advantage of the situation in DRC.
It stands by as its allies do the heavy lifting of razing, then swoops in as the usual wolf-in-savior's-clothing to pillage freely.

I wonder how some people find it so difficult to believe that their *government* can do something violent, destructive or heinous.
Why are you surprised? Are you really that naive?
Have you not suffered under their policies yourselves?
And these people are forced to choose dying inside a collapsing mine daily because the other option is dying from hunger / not being able to afford basic life necessities.
