UGANET in the Field | Obongi District Access to justice begins with awareness, information and the opportunity to understand one’s legal options. Ahead of the four-day mobile court session scheduled for October 26-29 in Palorinya Refugee Settlement, Obongi District, UGANET and the Uganda Law Society (ULS) conducted a sensitisation session at Moyo Government Prison. The session informed inmates about the purpose of the mobile court, plea bargaining and reconciliation. Those interested in plea bargaining also held individual consultations with defence counsel to explore possible sentences. To extend awareness beyond the prison, the team joined a radio talk show on Radio Aulogo, featuring representatives from UGANET, ULS, the District Police Commander and Probation and Social Welfare. The discussion addressed questions from refugees and host community members about the upcoming mobile court and the criminal and juvenile justice systems. These preparatory activities aim to ensure that people understand the process, their legal options and the opportunities available to them as the mobile court approaches. #UGANET4SocialJustice

📍#WeGoAgain - #EasternBar_Prisons - #MbaleMainPrison The Last time held this engagement, we met a juvenile detained in an adult facility. He had been detained there for over a year. At the time of our engagement, the said juvenile had due to his ordeal attempted to enter an involuntary plea bargain twice, only to be told he couldn't plea bargain because he was a child; but then kept on remand. Through the intervention of comrades at the Bar, he was represented and released on 27th June 2026. #RealMen - #RealChallenges - #NeedingJustice #BangTheTable #BackOnTrack

@SamMugumya, we recently watched a video in which you looked frail - a shadow of your original self, your identity sapped and cant help but wonder; #WhatSin did you commit to justify denial of due process? #WhichPersons did you offend that have no regard for the law? What is it about you, that they had to lock away incommunicado for 342 days? #RefuseToBeAVictim #FreeAllPoliticalPrisoners
