When it comes to attacking Israel, Hamas can build a huge, sprawling sophisticated tunnel network, improvised factories, and much more. When it comes to protecting Palestinians in Gaza from flooding, Hamas cannot even build the most basic flood defences. Very strange.

I’m going to chime in on the conversation about ugliness and degeneracy in art. The relentless nihilism and puerile fascinations in contemporary art keep sending the same message: give up, there’s no beauty, nothing to live for. I find it deeply depressing. We seem to be elevating artists who lack the talent to achieve transcendence. Unable to produce or understand it, their work becomes a resentful rejection: “If I can’t have it, then nobody can.” I’m tired of these mediocre deviants sucking up all the oxygen in our culture. It’s everywhere and utterly mundane. It lacks the excitement of breaking taboos because it doesn’t; it plays to permissible, even approved ideas. None of it is new, and it certainly isn’t dangerous anymore. It pays to be unoriginal and unable to access the talent that comes with ability to focus, critical thinking and sensitivity to beauty. I know this because I lived with Simon Henwood, an artist who doggedly pursued transcendence. Early success with his giant gouache-on-paper pictures of teenagers wasn’t enough, so he taught himself to paint with oils. The painstaking process of building layer upon layer of translucent colour creates pictures of multi-dimensional space and form that simply can’t be reproduced in print, much less with AI. You need to stand in front of the painting; you may not understand why it affects you, but it will. He found such work difficult to push into the art scene because he didn’t have a story, a why, or a cynical bone in his body. He ended up as creative director for Kanye West, then Rihanna and Alicia Keys. He should have been at home in the attic working on his paintings, but he was thrown into a world of bullshit he simply could not handle, and the stress killed him. He was an oddball, and his favourite thing as a kid was his Golliwogs. He collected all the Robertson’s Jam gollies and had a cuddly toy which was his favourite. I still have these objects. I also have a giant and very affectionate portrait of a golly that I have to hang in a shady upstairs landing, lest it be seen by visitors. A glimpse of this oil painting on one of my Instagram reels is regularly brought up as evidence of my “fascist leanings” or whatever. Even if I didn’t like the painting (I do), what am I supposed to do with it? Destroy it? The man is dead and won’t be painting anymore. Of course a naked white woman on her knees with bruises, blood and excrement around her arse is institutionally approved and breaks no boundaries, but Simon’s happy golly with its hand hovering over its crotch is totally taboo. Taboo still exists. It’s taboo to be Christian, to be conservative; contemporary art won’t touch a great many things for fear of cancellation. So no, I don’t buy that this is brave or interesting. I know exactly what’s unacceptable in the arts. I’ve paid my own price for believing in biological reality, another huge taboo. I’m now very much an outsider myself. I think it’s perfectly descriptive to call these people regime artists, and the regime wants degeneracy and hopelessness. Why is another question entirely, but I doubt it has to do with art.

Rightists respond to every defeat by saying "we just weren't retarded enough"
HAPPENING NOW: Absolutely chaotic scene as conservative activists Jake Lang and Thomas Allen storm a Diwali Hindu celebration at the Seattle Center Armory. They held signs that read, "Deport All Dot Heads" and "Stop Hindu Replacement of Christians." I just spoke to both men who say they are concerned about American culture being overrun by false idol worshippers and H1-B fraudsters. Lang and Allen say they will be targeting other locations in the city this weekend. They have yet to announce details of their plans due to possible retaliation by Antifa and other far-left activists. Stay tuned. @JakeLang|@Tommy4Trump420

Lol she unblocked me, did this, then reblocked me. It's like getting another merit badge. The problem isn't how she treats people in disagreement, though. It's how she mistreats people who criticize the movement she has joined. I'll leave it here, though. It's not valuable.
Unblocking James to respond to this. If you read this post closely, you will see that all it demonstrates is that I am friendly and kind even when I disagree with people. So I continued to be friendly and kind with James even as he and Michael O’Fallon kept pushing me behind the scenes to disassociate with anyone that they disapproved of. (which was practically everyone but themselves). I repeatedly explained that I’m a journalist, and I need a wide network of friends and contacts to do my job and I wasn’t going to be isolating myself in their little club. AND I repeatedly told both of them that they’re if they’re going to accuse people of being part of clandestine operations, they have to bring evidence for that. And they never did. This was what was unacceptable to them.

Would The Observer do a sympathetic front page on a far right group that had broken the spine of a female police officer and targeted Jewish businesses? Shameful.

1/ Re the genocide libel: I notice it's usually proffered as a subordinate clause, as in 'Because of the genocide,' 'In view of the genocide,' 'During the genocide...' The purpose is to establish it as a quasi fact. Compare, 'Due to the drought, there is a shortage of water.'

70,000 people died in Gaza during the war. According to Hamas itself, 50,000 of them were Hamas fighters. And of the 20,000 “children” killed, 80% were male combatants aged 16-18. The Gaza “genocide” is the biggest hoax of the 21st century.

No violence. No riots. No vulgarity. No hostility towards native Germans. No littering or trash anywhere. Iranians are civilised people, unlike the pro-"palestine" thugs who destroy Western cities every week. We are not the same.

Its interesting how this image came to signify the "excesses" of the Vietnam war but the reality is that the communist being executed had just killed an entire family of people.

The insane reaction from pro-Pals to feminist activist Patsy Stevenson saying that members of Kneecap use legal power to shut down allegations of sexual assaults is revealing. Patsy is a pro-Pal herself but now she’s branded a traitor. This is the behaviour of a cult.

This article on a ‘Black Sky’ event has appeared on the BBC website, prepping readers for power cuts and the breakdown of services. Whereas it cites ‘severe weather and cyber-attacks’ as causes, it is the pursuit of Net Zero that has created this vulnerability. Ditch it.

I feel like I should explain my participation in this expose of bad behavior. I have known Megan to some degree for around four years and have been friendly, even distantly, professionally friends. She did what looked like very good work in 2022 on issues of Woke in Christianity, and I was impressed and grateful. Later, skipping ahead a bit, I met Megan in person, and at a dinner with five or six of us at the table, we got to know each other some. We were pretty quick friends. I'm trying to remember what year this was--2024, I think--and it was in West Palm Beach. In between, like several other associates of mine, I saw Megan being pulled into the recruitment of the very Christian Nationalists and New Right guys I was dedicated to warning about, upon which I have been strongly vindicated. I spent some time, but less than others, in long conversations with her (overwhelmingly by text/DM), trying to explain why I thought these guys were trouble and would lead her to playing into a deceptive dialectic. One such frustrating conversation was in early spring 2023 while I was in the St. Louis airport waiting for a flight. I spent much of that time, if you can believe me, trying to explain to her what the dialectic is, and my explanations were simply inadequate. Some of the spiral graphics you've seen me and others share about the dialectic were ones I created specifically for her to communicate what it is and how it works. I watched her drift further and further into this, more to the frustration of my Christian associates than my own, but I found it disappointing. Later, when I met her, I found her likable, despite the disagreement, which was not significant between us. Some time later, she shared with me that she considered me a friend but was "done" with the others at one point because of their attempts to talk to her about the issues, her colleagues, the path she was on, and problems in her book. I kept communication open, though it was always infrequent, like normal. Her accusation was always the same when it came up: these people, who were trying to steer her away from the path she was on with those colleagues, were trying to ruin her career, which is simply untrue and unfair. It might have been the case that the people who had made her would destroy her if she changed course (ask me how I know), but the intentions were never malicious or harmful like that. Later, however, she got further into this line of thinking than I could tolerate, but she had also fallen seriously sick. I had no intention of criticizing a friendly while she was dangerously ill, so I didn't. I was distantly supportive but made no particular efforts one way or the other. She said many things I normally would have said something about, but I left it out of respect, even though it kept getting beyond my own tolerance. Finally, though, the behavior documented in this thread, which has been a constant for many months and especially through the last month, crossed enough of a line where I said something. Thus, I became implicated. I tried to be firm but gentle and respectful, maintaining a solid boundary: no misrepresentation. That's it. The reason I stepped in was, in fact, that. She would frequently pile on smaller accounts, many who respected her, many others who had become critical but who are good people doing good work, and go full attack-dog. I abhor unfairness. It was extremely frustrating to watch, but I stayed out of it, trying to maintain friendship and peace. The moment I stepped in, which was in response to further vigorous misrepresentation of people she was arguing with online--again, mostly good people with small accounts--it was immediately my turn. The public record is available. I set the boundary in advance and asked her not to do it with me. She said something to the effect of "we're going to do this." Ok. Since then, I have been questioned many times, in person, on the phone, and my message, about why I "attacked" Megan, which means someone is telling that story because I most certainly did not attack her. Another misrepresentation. It's intolerable. When this thread appeared, I therefore shared every one of the posts and many of the posts by people who have chimed in. That's my story and my explanation. I tried to dissuade her from taking a bad path, but it failed. I made a friendship and kept it, and I tried to keep the peace for a long time, even after it crossed several red lines. The moment I said anything, I became the bad guy. Like I said, ok. So be it. That's my piece.
Look, there is no right time to post this series I'm about to post. Before the midterms was definitely not the right time, and immediately after isn't either, but it's less wrong. So, without further ado, here we go… 𝗠𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗺 (@megbasham) 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆. Does anyone need the backstory? On October 7, the Fantastic Four delivered some highly problematic speeches at NatCon Jerusalem, for which they were rightly criticized. One of the speakers was Amanda Milius (@AmandaMilius), who is friends with Megan. Over the following weeks, Megan went on an X crusade to defend, among other things, her friend's speech. In doing so, she repeatedly demanded that others adhere to moral standards that she herself failed to uphold in the slightest. 𝗘𝗫𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗟𝗘 𝟭: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 "𝗢𝗽" 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲… Megan repeatedly criticized people for seeing an "op" behind every disagreement, arguing that accusing others of being part of an op simply because they hold different opinions is paranoid and conspiratorial. Yet she herself suggested that people creating divisions within the right-wing coalition ahead of the midterms were part of an "op." 𝗠𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗻: "I think the people who are suddenly very interested in creating massive fights within the rightwing coalition right before the midterms are the people you should suspect of being an 'op.'" [1] 𝗔𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗠𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗻: “I am so sick of people who don’t know how to debate any policy or election result without calling things an “op.“ It’s the last refuge of idiots and grifters.” [2] “Yes, I’m sure Mollie and Matt and me and everyone else who is saying that he is behaving out of his mind with this stuff are ops of some fashion.” [3] “They’re not running a dialectical hegemonic op or whatever.” [4] “And they call anyone who doesn’t agree with them part of an op.” [5] “Everything ends up in an 8000 word insane rant about ops and dialectics and not just a normal discussion.” [6] “Just because people disagree does not mean its an ‘op’.” [7] “The problem is you. Not secret ops.” [8] “I have to have been bought. I have to be part of an op.” [9] “Exactly.” (Reply to: “…denouncing everyone who disagrees with them as secret Marxists or ‘woke right’ ops.”) [10]
