50 MPs. The campaign to bring Hospitality VAT in line with Europe has now reached another milestone, with 50 MPs backing EDM 65944. This is no longer a niche issue. It is now a cross-party parliamentary campaign. The question is simple. Is your MP one of the 50? If not, why not? Hospitality employs over 3 million people, supports every high street, every town and every tourist destination in the country. If your MP hasn’t signed, ask them where they stand. #VATsTheProblem #VATInlineWithEurope #Hospitality #Pubs #Restaurants #Hotels #Tourism edm.parliament.uk/early-day-…

We need business rates action for hotels to avoid more pain in year 2 and reform of the system
3,800 jobs are to go from Premier Inn owner Whitbread, which has decided get rid of its chain of branded restaurants & sell & leaseback £1.5 bn of its hotels, after being hit by higher property taxes. The decisions were taken because of “significant cost increases in the form of business rates & national insurance,” said CEO Dominic Paul. "Compared to other countries around the world, business rate taxes are punitively high, & that affects companies’ ability to invest & grow,” he said. 1/2

New piece arguing that the humanitarian crisis in Darién is a direct result of failed international migration policies & inadequate cooperation and responses by regional governments leading to severe human suffering. Will the rhetorical turn mean actions? cris.unu.edu/migration-crisi…
