i really want to believe that NYT is trustworthy but that has become nearly impossible the whole framing of this new crypto story (yet again) relies on the (false) premise that the prior admin’s attack on crypto totally normal it wasn’t the attack was widely rebuked for years — by bipartisan members of congress, by federal courts, by basically anyone that wasn’t part of a small cabal of elizabeth warren-aligned officials. mainstream democrats never took up her cause. one time the dem senate voted overwhelmingly to overturn an insane SEC policy and biden was forced to VETO it these partisans, who often owed their jobs to a deal struck between biden and warren during the 2020 campaign (widely reported) included consequential appointees in the biden admin who previously worked directly for her, or those who she personally approved. these partisans included staffers for regulators who immediately went to warren-aligned non-profits like better markets and the consumer federation of america. these included entrenched officials inside banking regulators, who have now been exposed for inappropriately targeting legal industries so the idea that the regulatory pivot on crypto over the last year is somehow because of the president’s personal interest, and not because the prior regulatory posture was absolutely INSANE, is dishonest framing that ignores 4 years of direct attacks by the actual partisans this type of reporting relies on the readership being uninformed, which unfortunately too many are. this relies on Gell-Mann Amnesia and the “paper of record” is actively promoting crypto dementia

The common btc argument, not necessarily @LynAldenContact’s, is that by using a money that doesn’t structurally debase, it creates a higher hurdle rate for investment. Solving a question like, “why not consume or pump assets if the fiat is gonna melt like an ice cube?”
I really like @LynAldenContact and am confident that her heart is in the right place. Sadly, her economic diagnosis and BTC based solutions are harmful and misguided. Here’s why: Our crisis isn’t too much fiat—it’s that we aim it at consumption subsidies and asset pumps instead of high‑ROI public missions (next‑gen infrastructure, universal childcare, mission‑driven R&D). Bitcoin (or gold tbf) hard‑caps the currency but leaves the misallocation—and therefore inequality and stagnation—intact. Unless democratic governments pivot from debt‑financed *consumption* to debt‑financed *public investment*, popular frustration with inequality and perceived “currency debasement” will keep feeding a hard‑money/Bitcoin crusade that misdiagnoses fiat itself—rather than its misallocation—as the problem, curing nothing and making everyone poorer. This is probably the greatest economic risk of our time.

have never learned anything more from a group of guys. if you ever want to learn anything about trading then go back and listen to every single fucking episode five times. Morris was a hell of a man that touched a lot of lives and I personally know that Liam is a phenomenal guy who did this all with him. It was a hell of a run and both of them shaped my life a lot, I am forever grateful for what Morris shared even if I never met him. RIP

wow. this post is crazy. here are two data points to reinforce the scale of this on amazon...
I’ve been selling on Amazon for 14 years. Built a huge business there. It helped fund my exit from corporate America, my re-entry to investment real estate, my lifestyle. But an alarming thing occurred around 2019. I saw A LOT more Chinese sellers popping up. And the crazy thing is, if you took even an hour to scroll through the seller forums Amazon had become rife with Trademark infringements being filed against US sellers. But the caveat was, many of the IP infringement takedowns were coming from a person outside of the US. Amazon would then take the claimants word as gold, destroy the US based sellers account and all of a sudden, a Chinese based seller would pop up on those listings. The US seller could not fight it and Amazon would not listen. A long standing seller, making their living on Amazon, shut down by a single Copyright infringement “claim”. Then to watch multiple OBVIOUS Chinese selling accounts pop up in their place…was not only common, but rampant. But the most insane thing was: Amazon didn’t care about the sellers in the US. They took fraudulent trademark claims as gold, destroying many third party US sellers in the process. The tariff impact on these Chinese sellers will be the “Chickens coming home to roost” for Amazon…and it will be glorious for all of those who suffered as a result of Amazon putting a fraudsters word above a mom and pop third party seller based in the US.

Putin invaded a sovereign country, he bombed hospitals and schools, his soldiers have raped women. Yes, peace should be found, but to watch so many American’s support throwing the Ukrainians under the bus like this shows a distinct lack of courage. Many wars have been fought supporting nations under attack, defending the innocent side. Those soldiers were courageous. Some of you are just spineless pussies.

It really is wild that the FDIC tried delete from existence that they published a list of "high-risk" categories. The page on the left is the original version of the article. The page on the right is what people see now if they go on the FDIC's website.
