Trump on El-Sayed: "I call him Muhammed. He goes by Abdul. Abdul Ramadan ... we can't have these people in the United States. With the guy up in Michigan, we're gonna have to do the metal detector test before he's allowed to sit every day."
Tenacious, polite and determined. 👏🏼👏🏼 Sally Nugent.
Car crash alert 🚨
Sally Nugent asks Nigel Farage about Raheem Kassam's “Nigerian scammer” comments on Kemi Badenoch and his response is painful to watch.

Heavy challenge by Neal on Dowman, welcome to L2 tackling, probably given as a red in PL, could have trapped Dowman’s planted leg. 16-year-old reacted, kicked Neal, sent off, can’t complain. Not a lot of sympathy from Arteta. Disappointing. Kid could have done with some support.

One of these incidents is incredibly dangerous and is outlawed. The other is a tiny flick in frustration or anger. Which one is a red card?! 🤔

I had the privilege of judging the Investigation of the Year category at the British Journalism Awards 2026. An exceptional shortlist.
The nominees are:
• BBC Eye Investigations: Ghazal Abbasi, Seamus Mirodan, Karim Ali Shah and Mohammed Zubair Khan, investigating whether a hospital infected children with HIV.
• The Guardian: Anna Isaac, investigating Nigel Farage’s political funding, including an undisclosed £5m from a cryptocurrency billionaire and financial transactions linked to Reform UK.
• The Guardian: Paul Lewis, Henry Dyer and Pippa Crerar, revealing how Peter Mandelson failed security vetting, only for the Foreign Office to overrule the decision.
• Reuters: Maggie Michael, Fera Dalatey, Ryan McNeill and Khalil Ashawi, exposing an Assad-era operation to conceal thousands of bodies in mass graves in the Syrian desert.
• The Sunday Times: Gabriel Pogrund, Venetia Menzies, George Greenwood and Emanuele Midolo, investigating Nigel Farage’s funding and donations to Reform UK.
• Sky News: Dominic Waghorn, Flora Bagenal, Ben van der Merwe, Annoa Abekah-Mensah, Mark Stone, Zein Ja’Far, Liz Lane, Chris Howard and Siobhan Sinnerton, investigating the Minab school attack in Iran and finding evidence pointing to US responsibility.
Six major investigations, each requiring brilliant reporting, real and proper scrutiny of powerful institutions and a hard and determined commitment to uncovering facts of considerable public interest.
Congratulations to everyone shortlisted. This is journalism worth reading and watching.

Reading the Western reporting from the campaign trail in Israel, you can see the return of a fantasy: that our wayward ally might become a normal country overnight by ejecting the one man who caused all the trouble. For @equatormag, I asked @NathanThrall how to read the result:

Gadi Eisenkot is the father of the so-called Dahyeh Doctrine used against southern suburbs of Beirut in '06: disproportionate retaliation and destruction of civilian infrastructure to establish deterrence. Then used in Gaza.
A far more apt description of Gadi Eisenkot than @LucyWilliamson ‘s “centrist” and “left leaning”.
