A review that makes me want to read this collection.
For those who want something good to read this fall, I highly recommend Jim Shepard’s short story collection, THE QUEEN OF BAD INFLUENCES. Here’s my review from @Bookreporter: bookreporter.com/reviews/the…
A pleasure to chat about Dornoch, as always.
Now available on the @talkingolf history podcast: Dornoch With Lorne Rubenstein.
A delightful conversation with the author who followed in the footsteps of Herbert Warren Wind & brought Dornoch, Scotland home to so many of us.

One should never tire of watching golf played on the Old Course at St Andrews, writes @lornerubenstein, because the Old Course never stops informing us about the game.

We have set up a fund in Jake’s memory to support Junior Golf at Shiskine & Dunaverty in Scotland. The two places that he was happiest. He loved the Isle of Arran and the Mull of Kintyre 🏴💙

The latest in a continuing series of thoughtful reflections by Richard Pennell. It was a pleasure to accompany him during this recent adventure at @GolspieGolfClub.
Pitchmarks #178 - “Arresting Topography”
“It’s not too flash, or too hard, or too anything, Golspie, but instead that rare example of a place that is just right. It all seems effortless, actually…”

Richard Pennell @pitchmarks in this exceptional podcast refers to the golf ball as a “dimpled agent of misery.” Find me a wiser and funnier description. podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcas…
A deep pleasure to listen to this chat with Richard Pennell (@pitchmarks) especially after enjoying his company recently at @RoyalDornochGC & @GolspieGolfClub. He writes beautifully. podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcas…
This @thelinksdiary podcast with Stephen Proctor about the biography he’s writing about the great golf writer Bernard Darwin is exhilarating. I’m so looking forward to Stephen’s examination of Bernardo, as he was known. What a story he will tell. podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcas…

Watching Walker Cup history unfold from Royal Dornoch – SCOREGolf scoregolf.com/opinion/lorne-…
Watching the Walker Cup in the @royaldornochgc clubhouse. First came across Longhurst’s writing here in the bound copies of Golf Illustrated, which are still here. So I thought I’d post this again. Hall Of Fame Henry – SCOREGolf scoregolf.com/opinion/lorne-…
Rambled over the rumpled, rollicking nine holes of this down to earth course this morning. Hell of a good time.
My friend Paul Spears from @MapleDowns started 3-3-3 at @RoyalDornochGC yesterday. I’m trying to process his remarkable run, which warrants recognition. He played well the rest of the way, marred only by a double at the last. But he still shot 77.
So much fun to play this James Braid course today…a joyous romp through what nature provided and the five-time Open champion imagined.
Walked into this charity shop in Dornoch this morning and what was staring me in the face but a copy of my first book? Bought it, of course.
As I wrote here last week, I knew I would relish these elements of life in Dornoch. Played the links yesterday on a tranquil afternoon, and reading & drinking coffee now in Milk & Honey. Bliss. Golf, books and the joy of returning to Dornoch - scoregolf.com/opinion/lorne-…
It’s 6:45 AM in St. Andrews. I’ll be playing the Old Course in a few hours. I wrote this four years ago about the first hole: Golf's best opening hole by far. scoregolf.com/opinion/lorne-…
