Again, Toni Morrison said, “I would like my work to do two things: be as demanding and sophisticated as I want it to be, and at the same time be accessible in a sort of emotional way to lots of people, just like jazz. That’s a hard task. But that’s what I want to do.” Lock in.

10 reasons to stay and watch the credits...
Last night my wife and I watched Titanic with the kids. I haven't seen it in probably 20 years, but remember the movie like the back of my hand. First of all, it's a truly incredible feat of filmmaking, to the day.

Revered James Lawson, a towering figure in the Civil Rights Movement, has left us. As Martin Luther King Jr.'s strategist for nonviolence, he taught volunteer groups and students the imperative of nonviolent resistance against discrimination and injustice. A student of Gandhi, he believed deeply in Gandhi’s principles, seeing him as a spiritual leader. Rev. Lawson's journey, marked by a lesson from his mother early in life, included being expelled from Vanderbilt University for his activism. Despite this, he never sought credit for his pivotal role. From 1974 to 1999, he was pastor of Holman United Methodist Church. He continued his work into his 90s, teaching, leading seminars, and advocating for justice until his last days. His legacy of courage, commitment, and moral clarity will be profoundly missed but never forgotten. We must honor his memory by continuing his fight for justice and equality. Rest in power, Reverend Lawson!
