Last Tournament for the Channy Ortiz Baseball Academy boys. Super grateful for the time we had together and now it’s time to put my head down and go back to work for High School Ball🙏
Also went 3-5 (2 2Bs, and a single)

Another great example of how hitters adjust their paths to make productive contact on extreme pitch types. Low and inside pitches like this typically warrant steeper paths.
Saturdays at Driveline, our athletes play full games against the @TrajektSports machine. Real pitch mixing. Real sequencing. Every at-bat built off a scouting report. Game environments off of big league arms weekly.

Some quick clips from myself and @_Chrisleone on how we use our Trajekt at our @DrivelineBB AZ facility, and why getting a lot of reps off it is the best use of your time this offseason. 🧵
First we talked about bat speed training, and how we use blocked sessions off MLB level pitches so hitters can develop the ability to swing faster in difficult environments and learn new moves with a high intent.

While working @DrivelineBB I have utilized AI more than I've ever expected. These last 4 months have increasingly convinced me that it will be a necessity in my career moving forward.
A 🧵on why/where you can & should be using it in your own college/pro organizations.

Replying to @RetroMovieNerd1
Pretty much everything Driveline teaches aligns with Ted Williams' philosophy. He knew in the 1940s what coaches are now espousing in the 2020s.

Brandon Grover (@bgrover08) came to @DrivelineBB after a strong college career, but wanted to give himself a chance at playing at the next level
Since arriving, he's committed himself to his development, and the results speak for themselves:
📈 Average Bat Speed: 73.14 ➜ 77.11 mph (+3.97 mph)
💥 Max Exit Velocity: 94.9 ➜ 109.12 mph (+14.22 mph)
🔥 Top 8th Exit Velocity: 94.3 ➜ 106.4 mph (+12.1 mph)
The numbers tell part of the story. Brandon has earned every bit of this progress through relentless day in, day out work and a commitment to getting better.

Miguel Vargas has emerged as a star for the WhiteSox this season.
The first time all star made a splash in his ASG debut.
What some people miss are the improvements made to lead to this success.
🧵
Miguel Vargas Home Run
The part worth studying
His chase rate stayed at 19.8% (98th percentile)
He didn’t add bat speed to swing at everything harder.
He added speed to an already refined approach to boost batted ball quality.
More Speed. Same Swing and approach. Better results.
Takeaway
Bat speed is a trainable skill.
Vargas moved from the 25th to 72nd percentile in one off season.
The work: mechanical improvements, and building a faster swing through training intent.
The result: a hitter who had access to damage he didn’t have before.
