The problem isn’t that AI is intelligent. It isn’t. The problem is that too many adults (but not all) are at once mechanistic, imitative, unimaginative, stupid, formulaic, influenceable, & gullible, arrogant beyond their skill set, & too expensive to maintain.

Probably the biggest economic effect of vibe-coded apps is that these giant monopolies like Adobe and Intuit are gonna get very, VERY nervous. And I’m all here for it.
Replying to @ImKingGinger
Yeah, this is largely true, but I don’t think there’s going to be a slaughterhouse. Someone’s gotta make sure the vibe coded tool continues to work well and without jank, and that’s always harder to do when you don’t have a lot of knowledge about how it runs under the hood. For certain companies, the cost of having a team on hand to fix your custom stuff is more expensive than just paying for a couple seats on a one-stop-shop SaaS that ā€œjust worksā€. I work at a small biz running a custom app, and we just realized that paying the IT guy (me) to just make our app the mega SaaS we always wanted is way cheaper with these tools than trying to glue together 6 other services, cause 1 experienced dev with $100/month Codex sub can make it good enough that we don’t need the polish. So the economics changed; there’s gonna be way more software out in the world now, but I still think these large apps will have their niche.

PHP defenders have a point. Nobody files a CVE against a language nobody runs in production.

Christians shouldn’t watch horror because they should go buy my book instead. (Yes this is shameless self promotion. Sue me)

In 1994, software was dead. People told me programming was for nerds and that I should become a doctor or a lawyer instead. In 2004, software was dead. People told me that someone from India would take my job for $5/hour. In 2014, software was dead. People told me that no-code was going to kill every job and doom my career. In 2024, software was dead with Devin, Windsurf, Copilot, and OpenAI o1. We kill software every 10 years, and yet the demand for good Software Engineers has never been higher.

this is why people are in shambles if you consider yourself a good programmer, you almost certainly enjoy AI, because you keep the creative/big brain responsibilities and tasks but lose the puzzle brain teasers that don't really matter the big brain architecture/design stuff is almost always what makes a 100xer a 100xer. never writing code (although 100xers excel at that too) dying on this hill
this will just keep happening

From our podcast on the Magician's Nephew trailer: @annielcrawford said it best that Gerwig probably does love the source material, but feels compelled to update it for her own reasons. Link below

The entirety of the Gerwig shills arguments are basically just saying "Nuh-uh!" over and over again until you get bored of smacking your head into a brick wall, then declaring victory when you point that out and walk away because you have better things to do.

Surrender accepted. That screenshot is just SAD tho lolšŸ˜‚ Presuming you are FINE with the much more dramatic alterations to Lord of the Rings How ... ODD Toodles, my boy.

Judging from Gerwigs trailer, The Magician's Nephew might be kind of enjoyable. BUT IT'S NOT NARNIA!! Podcast link below

Aaaah nothing like a relaxing evening watching my brother absolutely mog the Gerwig shills in the replies.
We picked Meryl Streep to voice Aslan, but don’t worry. It won’t sound like her in any way. You won’t even know it is her! What’s that? Why did we cast her? What an odd question!

Although Meryl Streep will voice Aslan in Greta Gerwig's upcoming Narnia adaptation, multiple sources tell us that the performance is distinctly masculine. Earlier this week, Relevant Magazine reported on Aslan's voice in its coverage of the recent IMAX sneak preview event. A source described as someone "involved with the film who has seen it and asked not to be named" told the magazine that Aslan doesn't sound like Streep and has not been gender-swapped. NarniaWeb can confirm those claims and have also received multiple independent reports indicating Streep will give Aslan a deep, gravelly sounding voice. Read more: narniaweb.com/2026/10/meryl-…

I live in a weird space as a creative where I’m pro-AI as a tool for artists to reduce tedium and enhance the possibilities of one creative vision. But I also really hate purely generative ai ā€œartā€ and people who create whole books and videos using a few prompts. I want ai to be like a giant mech suit for creatives, not a crutch that makes them suck. What I really resent is being lumped in with those guys when I advocate any use of ai whatsoever. Sadly, the modern brain has very little tolerance for non-binary thinking. You’re either an anti-AI purist or an all-in pro AI bro and there’s no in between.
