You *don't* work better under pressure. It's just that, beyond a certain threshold of pressure, work becomes the path of least resistance.

Ok. Sigh. That might be it for me. I’m not making a noisy departure, swearing I won’t be back. This may very well be me saying, “Good night, Westley. Good work. Sleep well. I’ll most likely kill you in the morning.” But it might be time. Or past time, and I’m just catching up.

I support efforts to unionize and regulate gig economy delivery work, because I believe everyone deserves to be paid fairly for unnecessarily hanging my order on the doorknob rather than setting on any flat surface, causing the drinks inside to spill and ruin the entire order.

I’m in the middle of “Steve Jobs and the NeXT Big Thing.” Great profile of Jobs and NeXT Computer from 1993. My biggest takeaway is due to the timing (e.g., when Jobs was running his then-failing company, years away from returning to Apple)—your story isn’t over until it’s over.
What was the best book you read in 2022 and the main lesson you took from it?

You can tell the online advertising market is super healthy right now, because when I watch YouTube, a product of Google, all of the ads are for Google Fiber, another product of Google. #advertising #google #YouTube #economy

I’ve seen many people say they aren’t giving up on #Twitter without a fight, but a). there’s nothing to give up, he already has it, and b). I don’t think it qualifies as a fight if the other guy keeps compulsively shooting himself in the foot over and over again. #TwitterExodus

I realized today the most recent redesign pretty much killed Google news for me. I used to go daily, sometimes multiple times a day. Now, I’m going weeks between visits. #GoogleNews #news

Apropos of nothing, I logged into Mastodon for the first time in a few years. And I feel I should mention—again, also for no reason related to the news—that my handle over there is @maxleibman@mastodon.social. Once again, just a random, on-a-whim-type post.

I broke my 43-day streak of getting to bed by 10:05 PM the past two nights, but I’m not too broken up about it. My longer (114-day) streak of making it by 10:30 still stands. And I’ll start the 10:05 PM count again tomorrow, with any luck. #SleepHygeine #SelfCare #Rest
